Guest guest
How much NDT are you taking and what time of day do you take it. Are all your vitamins/minerals supplemented or are any of them low. How long after your dose do these symptoms appear? Luv - Sheila Just wondered if anyone else experiences these sort of " withdrawl " symptoms when due another dose or completed dose for the day. I have been on Erfa for a while now (6mths +)and I have noticed that sometimes these " strange " symptoms are difficult to handle. I would describe it as a dragging feeling in the chest and a lowering of the voice - it is difficult to describe. When I was first commenced on Erfa my Endo did say that he was reluctant to use NDT because of these withdrawl symptoms, although I must say it has helped me more that thyroxine. Would value any input on this. Thanks Han No virus found in this message. Guest guest
Han, I've not had this symptom but my depression and cold feet do return quite quickly. How are you taking your meds? sublingual or swallowing them? If the latter, you need to crunch them up first (i was told this by dr hertoghe) have you considered splitting your dose differently or perhaps even increasing? chris > > Just wondered if anyone else experiences these sort of " withdrawl " symptoms when due another dose or completed dose for the day. Guest guest
Hi Chris Thanks for your reply. I usually swallow the dose I have never chewed or crushed them will try that option. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Sheila My vits etc are all ok have had them checked recently. I take 60mgs NDT in divided doses, I was on 90 but the endo Dr P asked me to reduce to 60mgs a month ago as my T3 was slightly raised. I felt hypoi on the lower dose but tried to stick it out for a few weeks but now I feel I need the 90mgs again. Ican get the symptoms usually about two hrs after taking my meds.Although the symptoms are not constant these last few days have been particulary troublesome. Guest guest
yeah you can either put them under your tongue and let them dissolve, or, i was told by Dr Hertoghe to crush the Erfa then swallow it. (I was told either option is fine) C > > Hi Chris > Thanks for your reply. (you can get 30mg tablets) Chris > > I was on 90 but the endo Dr P asked me to reduce to 60mgs a month ago as my T3 was slightly raised. Guest guest
With Erfa - they are designed to be taken sublingually, meaning you place the tablet under your tongue where the sublingual gland is and it is gradually absorbed through the tiny capillaries directly into the blood stream. This way, it bypasses the stomach where some of the potency gets lost. Luv - Sheila Hi Chris Thanks for your reply. Guest guest
Han, had you taken your Erfa on the morning you had your blood tested? If so, ask Dr P if you can be retested after stopping your thyroid meds for 24 hours. He was shocked to see one of my results for free T3 was 10 something, and I told him I had forgotten and taken my thyroid that morning, so I went back in a couple of days and got retested after not taking any meds. that morning, and the result had dropped down to around 4.3. If you raise your dose back to 90mgs he will not mind. He leaves me to use whatever dose I feel is best and just makes a note of this in my medical notes. Guest guest
Sheila, I hadnt taken my meds on the day of the test and I felt ok on the 90mgs. I cant remember by how much my T3 was raised exactly but I knw it was just slightly elevated. My T4 was low in the range (I know it usually is when taking NDT) but Dr P suggested I take Thyroxine 25mcgs at night and it has helped. I did stay on the lower dose of Erfa for aboput a month then went to 75mgs ( I do take the 30mg tabs) but I had to go back to 90 mgs this last couple of weeks as I did feel hypo (I think the cold weather plays its part as well!) I have contacted Dr P to have a repeat blood test, he was supposed to see me before Christmas and I was waiting on a call from him - but he does seem to have a lot on, and has just got a new secretary as well. I agree he is very caring and pays great attention and listens to his patient - I am lucky to be under his care, and Im sure he will understand why I needed to go back to 90mgs Han > > Han, had you taken your Erfa on the morning you had your blood tested?
