Hii also have hashimotos , whilst on levothyroxine i had horrendous hot flushes, started at my feet and rushed up my body and would sometimes throw me into a severe panic attack, awful !!!! since being on T3 i don't really get them anymore, i've had a hysterectomy leaving the ovaries, but before this they put the coil in, i may of well curled up and died while that was in place, depression, water infections, none stop bleeding, piled weight on ,anxiety was at a all time high, i've had early menopause symptoms since being 35 and tried all the menopause stuff (didn't help) , was tested for enopause again, it showed i wasn't going through it, i'm 40 now by the way.I saw such a difference when the levothyroxine stopped the T3 kicked inlove sha xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxthyroid treatment From: arlene.huggins@...Date: Wed, 11 Jan 2012 19:22:33 +0000Subject: Hashimotos and hot flushes

Hi, have had hashimotos diagnosis since 2005, taking 100mcg levothyroxine. I was diagnosed with the menopause at 41, that came on very suddenly, and I was taking hot flushes every hour, I'm not joking. I was so exhausted and fed up, put on a lot of weight, that I requested HRT, I have tried a lot of different, in fact my GP tried everything, she was really patient with me. I got a UTI, in 2010, and was really ill with the antibiotics etc, was off work for 4 weeks.

I asked could I be sent to a HRT specialist, and when she looked at my blood test results, and seen how many HRT tablets I had tried, she said, and I quote here, because I was suprised. If this doesn't work I think it is your thyroid...... She put me on a double dose gel to be rubbed in, and then inserted a Mirena Coil. From it was inserted I have been off work and through hell, with anxiety and depression.

I am getting the coil out tomorrow, hopefully. But I wanted to investigate the hot flushes and early menopause symtoms with the thyroid group. Ring any bells with anyone. Going to raise the issue with my GP.

Often oestrogen is raised in those suffering with symptoms of

hypothyroidism and progesterone needs to be given to balance the hormones. Ask

your GP to let you have the blood results for your sex hormones and post them

here together with the reference Ranges Arlene
