Guest guest
Well - the endo's you have seen may not be very open-minded towards TPA - but they know full well that we are helping to get their patients well again, where they are failing. As we grow, and make the public more aware of the true facts about the diagnosing and management of those with symptoms of hypothyroidism, perhaps the knowledge will sink into their closed minds, and they will suddenly realise that following the opinions of the RCP and the BTA are actually causing their patients real harm. There are some VERY helpful endocrinologists though, so don't believe that " none are helpful " - they are. I have a list of such doctors if you want to give them a go. Luv - Sheila I've seen a few, none are helpful, I think I'm better on meds than off so will see how it goes, my GP will test my thyroid as often as I need it. The Endo's I have seen all seem to hold the same views and none of them are very open-minded - especially toward TPA, Thanks though Debs No virus found in this message. Guest guest
I cannot repeat it often enough Debs - no amount of thyroid hormone will work to relieve your symptoms if those specific vitamins/minerals are low in the reference range. Try your thyroid meds by all means, but if they don't work, then don't forget there are other possibilities as to why this may not be, and go through them by way of a process of elimination. Doctors within the NHS are not trained to do this, their education in thyroid disease is sadly lacking. It is also well known that for those on thyroid hormone replacement, thyroid function tests are pretty useless. Doctors should titrate your dose according to the symptoms and signs you are suffering, and not by TFT's alone. Sheila Thanks Nick - it looks like T3 works for a lot of people so I will keep a close eye on things. Concerned to lower my TSH at the moment, I don't think it's ever been this high and I have a lot of new symptoms which suggest my first step is to go back on the meds and get this lower. I will be getting some of those tests done asap. Keep well Debs No virus found in this message.
