Guest guest
Just found better link - below: http://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/mental-health-forum-2012 This could just be a great opportunity to put forward what happens when people do not get thyroid diagnosis and treatment......... Website states: Mental ill health costs the economy £105bn a year - more than the entire NHS budget1 Mental health accounts for a quarter of all GP consultations1 People with severe mental illness live some 15 years less than their peers1 400,000 people in the UK may have undiagnosed dementia2 Depression is associated with 67 per cent increased mortality from cardiovascular disease3 70 per cent of people with medically unexplained symptoms also suffer depression and anxiety disorders Perhaps we may be the only ones who know that untreated thyroid could do away with much of this................not all conditions are thyroid related, but many could be accounted for. Guest guest
Why do they always have such seminars in London - the Midlands i.e. Birmingham, would be much more appropriate??? Anybody in London could attend??? Luv - Sheila From: thyroid treatment [mailto:thyroid treatment ] On Behalf Of jennifer Sent: 10 January 2012 20:03 thyroid treatment Subject: Mental Health Forum re Long Term Conditions For some reason notification of this forum came to my inbox and I wondered if this could be a good place to push the plight of under-treated and untreated thyroid and the 'mental health' problem it causes as well as depression being a symptom of untreated thyroid. Just a thought. Top reasons for the third sector to attend Engage in debate on how to commission quality, patient-focused mental health services How the Third Sector can influence the commissioning process A focus on tackling mental ill health in patients with long-term conditions and the roll of IAPT How to maximize opportunities for the Third Sector in the newly-reformed commissioning process for mental health services Be update on Mental Health Policy and how it will impact on the patients you represent and the services you deliver Be inspired by case studies of innovative partnerships between Third Sector, the NHS and local authorities to deliver transformational mental health services As well as keynote presentations on mental health policy, dementia and the mental health of those with long-term physical illness, the event will also give you the perfect opportunity to network and raise the profile of your organisation with 300 GPs, the future commissioners of mental health services. Book your place now Book one of the 100 third sector and local authority places today This highly anticipated event, taking place on 23 May 2012 in London, is expected to generate much interest and as there are very limited spaces for the third sector and local authorities to book at £99 +VAT each, early registration is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment*. I will also forward on the email Shelia in case the link doesnt work. Guest guest
I was thinking that possibly correct diagnosis and treatment of thyroid would fix many of the long term conditions they speak of. Afraid London is a bit of a long walk and they dont have any buses from here ;-) F > > Hi , I guess we could probably get similar statistics for most of the > listed dangerous consequences of low thyroid below if we tried. Guest guest
What about anyone turning up with flyers about the consequences of non diagnosis and lack of treatment due to the rubbish TSH... the 300 scientific docs .... and direction to tpa website. Would that be any good. Looks like There will be some major players at this workshop as well as the 300 doctors F > > > > Hi , I guess we could probably get similar statistics for most of the > > listed dangerous consequences of low thyroid below if we tried. Guest guest
HI SHEILA How many of us are there in the vicinity of London. It would take me about two hours to get to Hammersmith. The drugs that they use for ones mental health can in fact cause more serious problems, and even sudden death. I also noticed that there are no Thyroid seminars on the agenda.
