Guest guest
At this point in time, I would keep the information to myself, but you need to remember that any thyroid function tests done would probably show your TSH is suppressed, your free T3 to be high in the range and your fT4 to be fine, so if he doesn't know you are already taking T3, he will believe your thyroid is functioning perfectly fine and probably discharge you. Go on there with your list of symptoms, signs, what medications and supplements you are taking, what your basal temperature is for four or five mornings before getting out of bed. What tests you would like done, i.e. iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Also ask for tests to see if you have thyroid antibodies, and list any members of your family who have a thyroid or autoimmune disease. I would show him your T3 urine test, and tell the endocrinologist you are aware that blood tests only show the level of thyroid hormone that is in the blood, and not in the cells, but that the urine test shows the level of thyroid hormone that has been used by the body in the last 24 hours, so this gives a truer picture. Check out FIRST VISIT TO ENDOCRINOLOGIST in our files section under 'Information for Patients' . Write down any questions you want to ask your endo. and make sure you get an answer. Good luck. Luv - Sheila I saw my usual gp this week and she has booked an appointment online for me to see an endo. I saw Dr P in November and am on a treatment plan he gave me which includes T3. Do I tell the endo about the above treatment plan, I haven't told my usual gp yet because when I have spoken to her before about my blood tests and the urine T3 test result ( which was low) she advised me that the bloods were normal and as for the T3 urine test it just seems to gets disregarded.
