Guest guest
Hello, I have water kefir grains and I'm producing 1 liter of coconut water kefir every 2 days. The taste is soury but its good to my stomach. Coconut is abundant here in the Philippines. I would like to ask if its is safe to eat the kefir grains? I would like to ask also if water kefir has an allergic reactions to the body? Thank you very much for your quick reply. Guest guest
Hi Steve, I havn't done any studies on this, but I can say what happens to me. It seems my CFS is driven bye a poor immune system. Indoors I don't breath as well. But with an air cleaner going I did better. I'm been taking garden of lifes primal defence ultra and it says what it is better than I can Probiotics are living microflora that play a critical role in maintaining good health. Present in many foods, live probiotic cultures populate the intestinal tract where they play a positive role in digestive and immune health. Probiotics maximize the benefits of a healthy diet by supporting normal absorption and assimilation of nutrients in the gut. Certain probiotic blends help support normal gastrointestinal balance of good and potentially harmful bacteria, and promote regular bowel function. Primal Defense ULTRA is the ultimate high potency, broad-spectrum probiotic formula. Three capsules per day provide a 15 billion live cell count of 13 species of beneficial cultures including soil-based probiotics called Homeostatic Soil Organisms (HSOs). Funny how it makes me sleep sounder, but in the morning I guess with the slower heart beat, I am stronger but also more sore. I'm thinking in a while longer the soreness will go and I'll just feel stronger. Guest guest
Hi Steve, I don't know anything about your protocol but I use " Probiotic Pearls " that were Made to " withstand " the digestive acids of the stomach and then be of use in the Intestines where we need them. As previously stated they are made to help replace the GOOD bacteria and flora there that help us digest our food. They also help keep Candida in check for people that have been on too many antibiotics and need the Good Flora restored to their intestines. Many of us have intestinal absorption problems and don't absorb the nutrients out of the food we digest and some call this " leaky gut " ...whatever the name we treat this with these things to help our absorption and help put our gut back into proper functioning. That is also another reason many of us take a B12-Folic Acid, B6 combo either in IM shot form or I prefer the sub-linguals that work just as well for me... They also help us absorb the nutrients from the food we eat... If we don't absorb the nutrients that's like not giving the car any gas.. you won't have any energy. I don't know where you live, but I just take the Trader Joe version and usually about 5 -> 2 or 3 times a day.... When eating Proteins is is also Helpful to take some " Digestive Enzymes " ..usually like bromelain, papaya, etc. I just follow the directions on the bottle. Post Exertion Malaise is an entirely different issue and has to do with the " delayed exhaustion " any time you overDO.. not the stuff you get later that day or the next day... but usually for the whole next 3-7 or more days... Depends how bad your case is.. when Bad ~ a one day outing can set some back 4-6 weeks.. Hope that helped some...
Guest guest
Steve, I've taken various brands of probiotics. You may want to look for the book " The Probiotics Revolution " by Huffnagle, for lists of which brands to look for (not all probiotics sold in health food stores or online are created equal). At the moment, however, I'm just making my own milk kefir and trying to consume about 3-4 ounces of that each day. It's a lot cheaper than buying the probiotics in capsules, and it's not hard to make at home. Guest guest
Thanks the protocol I have been on is The simplified protocol consisting of b-12 IM or otherwise and folates One of the biggest challenges of CFS aside from not having enough energy to do what we want is Post Exertional Malaise I have found some things that assuage it but I still have a struggle I thought maybe probiotics may help I use a lot of kombucha which is a probiotic as well as eat kim chee from time to time but I'm thinking maybe I need more So those pearls you mentioned sound like a good idea I just recently started using liquid chlorophyl to see if it would enhance my stamina and it is helping a little Thanks Steve On Feb 9, 2010, at 5:49 PM, bodieangels wrote: > Hi Steve, > > I don't know anything about your protocol > but I use " Probiotic Pearls " that were Made to " withstand " the > digestive acids of the stomach and then be of use in the Intestines > where we need them. Guest guest
Because I use a lot of TCM my practitioner recommended Dr. Ohhira's, Essential Formulas 12 Plus which has a 5 year fermentation process. According to it's description: Twelve strains of lactic acid bacteria, including super potent TH10, are used in the fermentation of vegetables, fruits, seaweeds and mushrooms. Our biogenic matrix (the rich culture medium pre-biotic and natural organic acids) improves the gut environment and is what distinguishes this product from mere probiotics. Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics 12 Plus Professional Formula differs from the Original Formula in that after 3 years of fermentation, it receives two additional years of maturing. -- Portland, OR On Feb 9, 2010, at 8:19 PM, S B wrote: > Thanks Marcia > > That is a question I have > If the stomach acid kills a lot of the active constituents of stuff > like kefir and kombucha > > How do we know we a benefiting ? > How do you feel on kefit as compared to OTC Probiotics > > I have been making my own Kombucha for three years and drink about a > gallon a week > > Steve > > On Feb 9, 2010, at 7:01 PM, Marcia on wrote: > >> Steve, >> >> I've taken various brands of probiotics. Guest guest
Steve, To be honest I haven't felt much different that when I use my other (and much cheaper I might add) probiotics. I know according to the research that this one should be more beneficial to me than a cheaper brand but I feel the same. And in the light of your question: 'How do we feel we're benefiting' I was asking myself the same question. I have finished this first package which was for a month hoping for some magic but I truly can't pinpoint it down and was wondering if I would go to the trouble of ordering a new one. Maybe I'll just go back to my old brand and save me some much needed dollars. I make my own yogurt, I started doing that when I arrived in the US from Europe and could only find the fat-free processed yogurts instead of the nutritious whole milk with pro-biotics I was used to. Now a couple of years later even Whole Foods is selling whole yogurt and we have a farmer that makes and sells yogurt directly from the farm. I tried Kefir also, my yogurt machine does that -) and I love it too but prefer the yogurt for my breakfast with fruit and weetabix ;-) I started taking extra pro-biotics next to the yogurt because I take morphine sulfate and pro-biotics helps me not getting constipated from the morphine. Other than that I never felt any improvement in my health from taking pro-biotics. -- Portland, OR On Feb 10, 2010, at 6:08 PM, S B wrote: > Hi > > How do you feel when you use it ? > > Steve > On Feb 10, 2010, at 1:09 PM, Tink wrote: > >> Because I use a lot of TCM my practitioner recommended Dr. Ohhira's, >> Essential Formulas 12 Plus which has a 5 year fermentation process. >> According to it's description: >> Twelve strains of lactic acid bacteria, including super potent TH10, >> are used in the fermentation of vegetables, fruits, seaweeds and >> mushrooms. Guest guest
Hi & Steve, I am curious if you felt that your leaky gut was a little better. The probiotics in that formula are raised on foods high in glutamic acid, which is important for learning and laying down memories. But it does heal the leaky gut most of us are plagued with. There are risks which are excess glutatmines which are excitotoxins. I react very strongly to excitotoxins (for more info see Dr. Blaylock's work). The product does mention intestinal health. Just curious. My favorite probiotic didn't have many strains but was very effective. The company no longer does business (that is what I was told). Continental Acidophilus. It was a liquid and very effective. I found I had less constipation (that is when I know it is effective). And if I have no gas when eating beans/broccoli. The other one I like was Eden's Bifidobacteria. It was sublingual. Very effective but pricey. I use Jarrows now. Marti > >> >

Guest guest
Steve, I use Ubiquinol which is according to Kaneka(the manufacturer of Ubiquinone and Ubiquinol in the US) 'the active form of anti-oxidants from CoQ10' http://www.kanekaqh.com/ In the .pdf that I have it says: 'Conventional CoQ10 supplements provide a compound called “ubiquinone”, which must be reduced to its active metabolite “ubiquinol” in order to be used in the body.' It's one of the products I splurge on mainly because my husband, who has a hereditary problem with cholesterol, is using it also for his cardiac problems. I pay for a bottle of 150 gels - 100 mg Ubiquinol 64.00 Much more expensive that your CoQ10. I do notice when I take them, my irregular heartbeat is stable, the fainting that I did when lying down in bed and turning to the other side is less and that is something I did not feel when I was using CoQ10. I did a quick search and came across a dr. Best's CoQ10 120 gels - 100 mg for 14.95 Mail me off list if you need the link. -- Portland, OR On Feb 11, 2010, at 8:55 PM, S B wrote: > > > I can help you with the Kombucha > > How mu;ch do you pay for your Co Q10? > How much do you use? > > CoQ10 is one of the supps that helps alot I use about 200 mg per day > and I pay around 19.00 for 90 gel capsules at Trader Joes > I would like to find a better price
Guest guest
Try Swanson. COQ10 is one of the products they keep low to lure new customers and retain old ones. See the pricing below. Its the best I have been able to find http://www.swansonvitamins.com They sell COQ10 for as low as $8 Re: Probiotics CoQ10 is one of the supps that helps alot I use about 200 mg per day and I pay around 19.00 for 90 gel capsules at Trader Joes I would like to find a better price Steve On Feb 11, 2010, at 4:15 PM, Tink wrote:

Guest guest
As you can see the Swanson brand has a form of ubiquinone and not Ubiquinol. The label says Ubidecarenone is the same as CoQ10 but is not Ubiquinol the higher potency. With 60 gels for 9.99 you will pay more than the 120 gels dr.Best brand. -- Portland, OR On Feb 12, 2010, at 7:52 PM, S B wrote: > I wonder how good it is > > > On Feb 12, 2010, at 8:31 AM, Tracey de Morsella wrote: > >> >> Try Swanson. Guest guest
One of the best probiotic companies is Klair Labs. They have great info and products. A lot of research on biofilm as well. They may have phone conf. that she can review about their research. I also really like and get good results from Integrative Therapeutics probiotic pearls. Nutrition action just did a nice spread on all of the yogurt probiotic claims. I can send if she cannot find it. Tina Musselman, R.D., C.C.N.
