Guest guest
Hi Nick Good to have you back. I wondered where you had disappeared to and hoped that it was not because of failing health, which obviously, it was. We insist all the time that all our new members get their GP to test their levels of iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc tested. These are absolutely vital, because low levels will stop thyroid hormone from being fully utilised at the cellular level. Poor old you! Regarding your iron test results. Telephone the laboratory where these were tested and tell them that your GP has not got the results and ask them to check that these were requested, and if the tests were done, ask for the results and the reference range. about to go out, so cannot answer any more but will speak later. You have been missed on the group and many people asked where you were. Luv - Sheila Hi All It's a while since I was following this group and even longer sonce I posted, I was doing well and getting on with life, time for e-mails had diminished and I dropped back for a while. T3 only was suiting me but I needed a lot of it. Across the autumn I started feeling " not right " and blaming it on an infection. The main symptom was dizziness after laying down for a while, the Drs didn't have anything useful to say apart from " it's probably a virus affecting your inner ear, take these tablets to relieve the symptoms but they won't make it get better any quicker " . I checked the tablets and they affected the brain dopamine levels so no thanks, I won't take them!

Tests were not done, they regarded Hemocrit etc as being enough and didn't test iron or ferritin. Dr is good, he regards Ferritin as pretty useless in this case. The saga continues, glad all is well here. It was good health and a new relationship that took me away from the group but a relapse this autumn. Feeling a lot better now and on the up still, posted to try and help others who may be in the same situation Hope you are all OK Nick

[Ed] Hi Nick, 2 years ago i went to the Drs told Him i had symptoms of Anemia (i had had Anemia before ,years ago when i had a twin Pregnancy,so i knew the symptoms),he did a blood test and was told i was in range and was ok.I still felt ill and could not understand it.Around 12 weeks later when i went for my Thyroid blood test they did a folic acid test and iron as well.I was call back to the Drs to be told i was deficient in Folic Acid,i could not believe what he was telling me ,(even though i had complained of anemia ,they had waited for me to go out of range ,to then tell me i was ill,how utterly stupid is that).I told them i wanted a print out of my blood tests and found that my iron was very low to.This was a lesson to me ,learn to read your own blood test and do not rely on what the Drs are telling you.I am telling you this now in the hope that others read this ,as the best thing you can do for your self in getting well is learn to read your own blood test and listed to what your body is telling you. I'm pleased your feeling much better.Regards Helen
Guest guest
Just curious what your FT3 was nick when you took 50mcg one hour before the test? I had something similar happen to me also the endo did not tell me he was going to run thyroid labs, we agreed on iron, cortisol, and a few others but i thought we had agreed not to run thyroid labs until my next appointment. So i had taken quite alot of T3 and also taken T3 before the blood test, and my FT3 came back 29.... My next appointment should be interesting! Glad things are looking up for you anyway nick your posts were always helpfull on the RT3 group. Steve

Dr is good though, he agreed not to take more labs until things have stabilised in a couple of months time. Nick
Guest guest
Ah, new relationship eh! Hope this is a good one and lasts Nick. Keep going in the right direction, and no turning corners and if you can help others where you see they are having problems, please do so, we are in dire need of help and support from 'those who know'.
