Guest guest
Hi all, I would like to know how much T3 I should be taking, I am currently on 50mcg of levo that I take at bedtime, I take 6.25mcg T3 2.30am aprox 4hrs before I get up and another 6.26 at 2.30 pm. I read somewhere recently that you should take T3 at 5 hour intervals and wondered if I should add another dose? I don't feel optimally treated and have no symptoms that would indicate over medicatication but I do keep getting a headache late morning, could that be when my body needs more T3 or not? Any thoughts would be appreciated. luv Sue X
Guest guest
Why are you taking 6.25mcgs T3 at 2.30a.m.? The idea of taking an early dose is really for those who are on much higher doses of T3 than 12.5mcgs - this is a teeny dose. Also, the idea is that the adrenals are secreting their highest level of cortisol around 4.30a.m. (not 2.30a.m.) and that is the time you should be taking a first dose of T3. Until you are on a higher dose, if this was me, I would take my first dose when I woke naturally, i.e. 7.00/8.00a.m. and then another dose around 2.00p.m. You can increase by 12.5mcgs every 2 to 3 weeks until you find the dose of T3 that takes away your symptoms. If, at any time, after an increase in your dosage you start to get palpitations, feel sweaty/dizzy, feel spaced out and generally have symptoms of hyperthyroidism, then don't take any more T3 that day, and the next day, cut back to the dose you were on before. This is usually the dose your body needs so you just stick at that with no more increases.
