Guest guest
Thank you so much for your offer of a donation of £100 Kathleen. I take it you would want this to go particularly towards the cost of a demonstration? If so, I would keep hold of this until such time that we know realistically this will be taking place as we need huge numbers who are willing to take part in whatever demonstration is decided on at the end of the day. However, TPA is always happy to receive donations - However, for all who are interested in making a donation to Thyroid Patient Advocacy, please see attached document. Luv - Sheila HI SHEILA I have applied to join the DEMO GROUP, and would be willing to donate £100 and this does not come easy being on benefits and struggling to pay for medication. 1 of 1 File(s) TPA DONATION FORMS.doc
Guest guest
Sorry Kathleen, to date, there will be no TPA Conference this year, though it was due to be held in Birmingham so those down South could attend. I have been just about the busiest I could have been this past year and have had no time to arrange it and this apparently appears to have been the same for all other trustees and members of the TPA Working Party too. One of the problems is in finding a good venue where they do not charge the earth for hiring a room - finding a room that holds up to at least 150 (more if possible), finding somewhere that provide a good meal that doesn't cost the earth and a chef who is prepared to cater for all those with special dietary needs - finding a venue that is easy to get to and not way out in the country without access to trains etc. So far, we have done very well in the past, and the last time we used Birmingham we had everything we could possible need, very cheaply at Chung's Restaurant just near to the Station and Bull Ring in Birmingham, but the main room we had only seats up to 80, with 30 more if the side doors are opened onto another room, but each year, our numbers are growing more and more and I could easily see another conference attracting 150/200. If we did have one this year, the only time that Dr Peatfield is available is during the month of August and I have to ensure that other speakers would also be available at the same time too. It is a lot of work and unfortunately, old Mother Time is taking over and there are only so many hours during the day. If anybody knows of such a venue in the middle of Birmingham with all the right criteria, I am happy to give it a go, but I will not be charging my members £50 ahead to pay for a luxurious venue when we can get what we need for around a quarter of the price. Many members are having to live on State Benefits and pensions and this needs to be taken into consideration. Luv - Sheila HI SHEILA I do not earn enough to pay tax, so would not able to boost the value of my donation. I will send you a donation and await to see if this DEMO progresses into a DEMO before donating £100, but if it does go ahead I would be prepared to donate it. Is the conference going to be at Birmingham this year, but I feel that Skipton was a lovely venue and place, and may I say " OH FOR THE YORKSHIRE DALES " Kathleen
