Guest guest
Hi, I just suffered for many years with the pain, the regurgitation, the embarrassment in restaurants, the awakening with food on my pillow. I tried all medications, but as NO doctor diagnosed my problem, - they said it was just stress and acid reflux. Tried Tagamet, Pepsid, Zantac, Procardia ( a heart relaxer) which the doctor said might relax my esophagus. What happened, is my A proceeded to the point that I have the most extreme advanced case the doctors here is Los Angeles have ever seen. Two years ago, after my final endoscopy, I was referred to three doctors to interview for surgery, each with a different procedure. My doctor said " until surgery, try sipping carbonated beverages before each bite of food. That will trigger the esophagus to open. " It has, and two years later now, I have had NO surgery,my esophagus is closed over 60% of the way 'up' and with carbonation, I am able to eat everything. If I forget, which I have occasionally done, I become totally blocked, and it can hours before I can even get water down. I have found that forcing carbonated beverages down helps a great deal in getting up the blockage, as it helps to " bubble " the blockage up. I feel very fortunate. The doctors cannot believe it. They felt, and still feel that surgery is still a possibility, but until the carbonation no longer works, I will not have the surgery. Because of the blockage, I no longer have acid reflux, I have no more pain, - it is almost as though I don't have A except I carry a bottle of carbonated water with me everywhere. Guest guest
-Dearest a, I'm sorry to hear it has been such a rough time for you right now. You know, Prozac is what keeps me going too. Dear you cannot let the people you work with get you down. If you need to give them a brochure and tell them your just not doing well right now. I am not surprised your blood pressure is up. I have had this on and off for years. It does make us feel sick and never well and my heart does understand. Please know we are thinking of you too and just let us know if you would like to visit on the phone or here some more. Guest guest
a, AOSD has it's pitfalls, and your high blood pressure and family health related problems aren't going away too soon. This in-turn adds to increased stress, which will undoubtably affect your AOSD symptoms. Managing outside relationships such as your coworkers and friends is very important to your mental health. So try not to burn too many bridges too fast. It will help to educate your friends and coworkers on what this " dragon " does to you, and the sacrifices you have to make just get along in the world. Remind them that they probably arn't suffering day-in and day-out with a rare disease, and somedays get worse than better. Encourage them to have patients with you, and let them know that your actions are not meant to be deliberate, but instead necessary towards your overall well being. I'm very sure they will understand. Sometime I catch myself snapping back at my husband Bob, because there are days I'm fed up with being sick all the time. Fortunately, Bob understands me very well, and knows when I'm acting out of character, and he also takes the time to educate my friends and family on NOT being " thinned skinned " if I seem disagreeable at times. At first, it was difficult for them to really grasp it all because they were used to me always catering to their every whim. Now, it's not all that simple...if you know what I mean. Take care of yourself first, Bob & Vivian Mirabal High Blood Pressure I had a Dr. appt. this morning. I've been having headaches and feeling nauseous again lately. I'm on the verge of losing my friends also. Last week me and a former co-worker had planned all week to get together Friday night. Well as luck would have it, Friday I was feeling awful and had to cancel and she wasn't very happy. Then Saturday I was suppose to go to a Pampered Chef Party and Home Interior Party with a current co-worker and Saturday morning I woke up with a headache. Turns out I have high blood pressure. He also said my heart rate was beating too fast and my thyroid is off a bit. He asked was I nervous and I said no but depressed and then I went on my rant about my 10 year old son and his problems with the seizures, allergies and asthma and Norman having his knee replacement surgery this month and how this is the first year ever that I haven't been excited about Christmas. By the time I was done I'm surprised he didn't have me carried out in a straight jacket. But he did increase the prozac. Knowing that all of you are out there is probably one of the few things that makes me happy right now. So if I haven't thanked you all recently I'd like to thank you now for always being there for me this past few years. You have all made a tremendous difference in my life. a , Administrative Assistant Faribault Foods, Inc. 3380 Mithun Tower 222 South 9th Street Minneapolis, MN 55402 Tele: 612-333-6461 Fax: 612-342-2908
Guest guest
Jane, I've often found that alpha uptraining at P4/A2 or alpha coherence training at the P sites has a positive effect on blood pressure, but I can't honestly say that I know which of the clients had "genetic" high blood pressure as opposed to other varieties. If her alpha/theta ratio is low in the P sites, you could try it easily enough. Very unlikely to do any harm. Guest guest
Hi arabiankay, Perhaps you need to go and see a physician - medical specialist - about your blood pressure. The operation itself should not give you high blood pressure. There is medication you can take and if it is a temporary thing then you can stop but right now it needs to be treated by someone who knows what he about. hypertension should be treated and not left - it is important ! How long you stay in hospital depends on the doctor, and what kind of procedure you had. I had an open Heller plus hiatus hernia repair and stayed in 5 days. They may have kept you in for 9 days because of your blood pressure. Hope it all gets sorted out soon ! Hugs, Joan Johannesburg South Africajpearse@... high blood pressure Since I HAD THE OPEN Heller this March 10th, i now have horrible high blood pressure,,never had this before the surgery..yesm still have small problems spasms in chest, thats usually when i go over the limit by a teaspoon..., but the blood pressure is bad, horrible headaches, please advise if anyone else has gone thru this please,,Penny, if you would like to come to Sc for your surgery, you can stay at my house...don't be treated like your doctors teat you...I STAYED IN THE HOSPITAL 9 days,,,,
Guest guest
, mine went up quite a bit at menopause, and it will go up with infections, its been up to 160/95. Its since gone back to normal lately, Dr thinks its cause I'm walking a mile most days with my diabetic husb. I dont' think its that cause its been low, high and all over the map during my cfs and doesn't always relate to exercise/activity like they want to think. Potassium 'can' help some, sometimes a deficiency in Potassium can raise it too. Maybe the Ambien is affecting it too? Marcia high blood pressure Hello Group, I have a friend here in Northern California who has been experiencing high blood pressure for the last three or four months even though she is not overweight and she eats good food with lots of fruits and vegetables. She doesn't smoke or drink either. Her most recent blood pressure reading was 181/110. I was just wondering if high blood pressure was a problem for anybody on the group. She doesn't take much in the way of medication except Ambien, but that was started about six months before her blood pressure started moving up. The only other thing she has started recently is CoQ 10. Any ideas would be appreciated. I don't know if it has to do with the blood volume problem of this disease or what. Guest guest
: my bp has been very very low, very very high, and in the middle. since I've a couple of surgeries within the past year I've been even more of a couch potato and have put on weight but even with that my bp was up and now after this last surgery it's even gone down to normal-go figure. I know that staying off the salts for me is important but I crave salt at times because I have that anti diuretic hormone problem and my salt is diluted in my body so even with a lot of salt my blood salt levels will be normal but bp, at times, will go up. are you taking any new meds, etc? personally I'm slowly (you'd think I'd get it after 25+ year of cfids) getting it that this disease does so many wacky things to one's body. natasha high blood pressure Hello Group, I have a friend here in Northern California who has been experiencing high blood pressure for the last three or four months even though she is not overweight and she eats good food with lots of fruits and vegetables. Guest guest
Funny you ask.... I noticed about a year ago that my BP was reading high when they took it at home. My doc didn't seemed concerned when I kept a log and showed her the numbers. I, too, have a fast heart rate (usually 85-95). I didn't pursue it but just this week I was at doctor's office and had them take it for the heck of it and was 130/96. Very high. I have an appt with my doc again in two weeks and will bring it up. Guest guest
Hi a and Lainie, My blood pressure is about the same as a's. The nurse I see sometimes was a little bit concerned but I have not done anything about it - except for trying to change my diet into a little bit more healthy by cutting down on fat and salt (a little bit). I don't want to take any medicines unless they are absolutely necessary. My bp reads higher at the nurse's office than at home. The reason being that I am so anxious there and more relaxed at home. I have SMA II and am 37 y/o. smiles Taya Re: high blood pressure Funny you ask.... I noticed about a year ago that my BP was reading high when they took it at home. Guest guest
Hi Lainie, Sorry to hear you were in the hospital, but glad to hear your care was very good...hope you are feeling better now I'd had borderline (doc's word) high blood pressure for years while living in SoCal, my last few readings before moving were: 133/88, 149/92, 151/83...my highest was in 1997, and was 152/100! After I moved, it has been much better. Last 3 readings here have been: 128/74, 124/68, 110/68. Why? I have no idea, I'm not on any meds for it. My only guess is maybe not as much stress and strife since moving away from my family?? lol. Hope you find the answers you are looking for regarding meds Take care, > " Lainie H.
