Guest guest
No wonder he's cold... and if he says he feels fine he must have brain fog too! The iron takes a while to up the levels, but he'll need to go slow and steady. Hopefully when you've sorted the B12, the D3 and the iron he'll realise how bad he was feeling..... I'm on the south coast in Dorset and the labs here are fine too. I wonder if he coul;d also do with some selenium.... he has T4 but it doesn't look to be converting into t3 very well, selenium is crucial as it helps the enzyme that does the conversion bit...... The Serum Caeruloplasmin test is to see how much copper is available/ used... copper helps blood cells to use iron which is in the blood..... Without copper any available iron is of no use : have a look here: http://www.labtestsonline.org.uk/understanding/analytes/caeruloplasmin/tab/sampl\ e . x > > FT4..18.2(12.22) > FT3...3.2(3.1-6.8) > TSH..3.21(0.3-4.2) > > B12...187(197-866) > Serum Folate..4.7(4.6-18.7) > > Ferritin...21(30-400) > Vit D..16(50-120) > > Serum Copper..12 (11-20) > Serum Caeruloplasmin 194(220-400)....what's this? > > Zinc...13 (11-24) > > Magnesium is good. > .. > I imagine that with his bloods he is not converting even 1mcg of thyroxine. Silly thing says he feels fine but I think he has forgotten what fine is. > >
Guest guest
Edited to remove previous messages already read. Please always check that you have done this before clicking 'Send'. Sheila _________________________________________ Hi , Yes I agree with all you say. As for the Selenium, I've already added that to his daily drugs a couple of weeks ago as I had an extra pot. Looks like he'll need some copper and zinc too. I'm wondering if his copper is a bit on the low side because his liver function isn't so good because he is on Amiodarone. If I start him on zinc 15mgs how much copper should he be on as I know they have to be balanced? I shall have to see what I can get the GP to make prescriptions for as I am already totally supplementing my daughter and myself for Hashimotos then there is the cat too who is hyperthyroid. Thanks.. > > No wonder he's cold... and if he says he feels fine he must have brain fog too! > > The iron takes a while to up the levels, but he'll need to go slow and steady. > > Hopefully when you've sorted the B12, the D3 and the iron he'll realise how bad he was feeling..... Guest guest
Check this out http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/129033-overview It is probably the Amiodarone that is causing his problems. Luv - Sheila I'm wondering if his copper is a bit on the low side because his liver function isn't so good because he is on Amiodarone.
