Guest guest
HI ALL Does the NHS have to pay more for drugs from abroad that we are purchasing. Does it cost us less say for Mexican T3 than what it would cost the NHS to purchase. Kathleen
Guest guest
I did a lot of looking around to get T3 cheap when my dog was put on it, a nearby pharmacy quoted me around £26 I think it was for 28 25mcg tablets. 28!! Yet the mexican place sells 300 for around £47 with postage, and the site posted yesterday sells 500 for the same. So yes, the NHS pays a hell of a lot more! Guest guest
Kathleen, I don't think the T3 from mexico is on the list of drugs supplies in the uk.... all that is listed is the Goldshield version. and the price for this is based upon an average of prices from 4 manfacturers and suppliers. The 4 are: Actavis, Teva UK, Alliance Healthcare Distribution and AAH. Whatever price these 4 quote for t3 is averaged out and that is the price the pharmacist gets paid. If the pharmacist can buy it cheaper, he makes a profit. The current price for T3 is listed as: Liothyronine sodium (Goldshield) Prescription-only Medicine Tablets, scored, liothyronine sodium 20 micrograms, net price 28-tab pack = £26.15 Does anyone get any other brand of T3 on the NHS in the UK? x > > HI ALL > Does the NHS have to pay more for drugs from abroad that we are purchasing. Guest guest
No idea who makes mine - I just get loose tablets in a brown bottle with the chemist's label on. Never had a Patient Information Leaflet either... D > Does anyone get any other brand of T3 on the NHS in the UK? > > x > > > > [Ed]
Guest guest
I presume these prices quoted are what it costs the NHS to purchase. This is well over 3 times the price of purchasing our own T3. It most certainly would save the NHS money if they increased our DLA to purchase our own. This looks to me that the NHS are being taken for a ride. Dare I put this to my GP. These drugs that are GOLD-SHIELD, does this then mean that they are then labelled as TEVA etc which are exactly the same drug and ingredients. Could a pharmacy buy as we do direct from abroad and in turn reap more profit. Guest guest
These prices are still horrendous. In France and Belgium they are about 2.87€ a packet of 30 x 25mcgBut you do need a prescription. This note is just to show what a rip off they are.
