Guest guest
Hi, I'm replying to your post, in order to Bump it up a bit.... so that everyone else will chip in..... You certainly sound like you are being put through the mill and could do with some help...... I don't suppose you have any results for free t3, free t4 and tsh do you? that will be a start...... It's miserable that we have to fight the medics, when we feel half dead, but that is why forums like this exist. I suppose you have seen Dr Lowes web site ? he puts forward the case for Me and CFS being treated with T3. Have you ever trialled T3? It's solved a lot of problems for a lot of people who can't convert the t4 into t3. You really do need to look for a more understanding doctor...... there are various support groups around the uk, would it be worth you going to one of these in the hope that you may meet someone with knowlege of a good local doctor? x > > Hi All, > > Hope everyone has has a great Christmas and New Year. Apologies beforehand for the length of this post. I'm posting this as I am completely bewildered and feel that I have come to the end of the line, and no longer believe that I will ever be taken seriously by the 'medical profession'. Without being too dramatic, I believe I will be dead before I get the treatment that I need.

Guest guest
Sheree, I just wrote a reply and lost it! :-( It sounds like your instincts are right and you are hypothyroid. > I was diagnosed with 'M.E.' in 2010 despite a rising TSH. My last blood test was in August 2011 where the specialst wrote that my thyroid function tests were 'normal' with a TSH of 4.2 (0.27 to 4.20) and a Free T4 of 12.9. Autoimmune and thyroid issues run in my family. have you been tested for autoimmune issues? Yes i 'd agree those results suggest hypothyroidism, and the varying tsh and free t4 is noteworthy. > In February 2011 my results were 2.92 (0.1 -4) with a Free T4 of 16.3 (8-20). I am guessing that these results are evidence of a struggling thyroid? Yes but don't be hung up on lab tests. The TSH isn't the be all and endall by far. It doesn't show what 's happening at cellular level and you can have a sluggish piutitary, too, so it's more important in my opinion to go by symptoms and see if a person responds to treatment. Antidepressants aren't much good, as you know. How can they fix a hypothyroid issue - your doctors are stupid, and dangerous. > I have irregular vaginal bleeding, severe bloating, abdominal pain and discomfort. I have developed very bad PMS which I never had before I became ill. Have your sex hormones been tested? > I have chronic insomnia which I have had for years and visual disturbance such as double vision and chronically dry and gritty eyes, my optician says they are the worst he has ever seen and is referring me on. dry, irrittated eyes can be caused by hypothyroid. > My other symptoms are too numerous to mention and I have got to the point were I have no fight left in me whatsoever. Don't give up yet, you are in the right place! Please advise: a)where you are in the country? have you had sex hormones tested? c) have you had vitamins and minerals tested? concerned about iron if you are bleeding etc. You might have multiple deficiencies, these will need to be corrected of course. d) is there anyone in your life who you can ask for support and go with you (though i think you may need to change GP) Please do this questionnaire and see what it reveals. put 0 for no/never, 1 not much/sometimes, 2 in moderagtion, regualrly, 3=alot, often, 4 = tremondous/constantly. Guest guest
Hi there, thyroid problems are usually autoimmune, your doctor and dare i say even some specialist don`t all ways make this connection.you need to get tested for auto-antibodies to the thyroid and to the adrenals, as any combination of these can be responsible for symptoms.we can all have many symptoms that the tests don`t pick up , but saying this the tests them selves are not as reliable as doctors would like, also depends on interpretation of the results. their is a vast difference between a size 7 shoe and a size 3, but both are normal. the normal range is now not used as it is now called a reference interval- see and print out from -www.labtestsonline.com and show this to the doctor. and say to him if he is unable to interpret the test results then why not stop wasting your time and his by saying so. the only way to get help is to be firm and standyour ground and don`t give in to them. they are not allowed to admit they don`t no what is wrong with you. going from one doctor to another is time consuming and tiring not to say upsetting. angel.
