That B12 is lower than mine was and mine was terrible. I managed to nag the

doctor into giving me 1 shot of B12 and have been supplementing 1000 mcg(I think

its mcg) sublinqualy (under the tongue) a day for 3 months and I am feeling much

better, in fact the best I have felt for about 20 years. Your B12 should be way

up at the top of the range, not at the bottom.

Keep on reading the posts here about reference ranges and learn what are the

'Optimal for good health', ranges and what the doctors consider to be 'normal'

which is 'as long as you are able to walk and talk' range.

Every time you have tests done, get the results and check them yourself. If you

don't know what they mean type them in here for the more experienced people to

comment on.

Lele, I can assure

you that your serum folate at only 3.2 is FAR from normal. This is extremely

low and needs supplementing i.e. 800mcgs Folate daily until your levels start

to rise.. Your vitamin B12 is also right at the very bottom of the reference

range. It should be right up there near to the top of the reference range -

around 600 and this needs urgent supplementing with B12 sublingual tablets

1000mcgs twice daily until your levels start to rise, and then 1000mcgs daily

as a maintenance dose. I would suggest that you ask your GP about B12

injections to boost your levels as quickly as possible.

If your GP

believes that all these are normal, either find a GP who knows what he is

doing, or ask him for a referral to an endocrinologist who is more likely to be

able to help you.

Serum Folate 3.2 (3.0-20)

Vitamin b12 239 (200-700)

Ferritin 108.5 (7.0-150)

All haemo etc are good.

Thanks for the help. I'm tackling this alone as my dr says these are in range.

I'll start with the folic acid & b12 twice daily. What sort of symptoms are the

usual to get with these issues??

He Lele, if you type " B12 deficiency symptoms " you

will find out. Also, then type in " folate deficiency symptoms " and

again, you will get web site up that will tell you.

Hi Lele,

I can only tell you my experience. I started taking ferrous fumerate and B12 on

Saturday and I feel so much better already, more energy, much less dizzy and

head is clearer!

With some other supplements it was more gradual but this time I really feel the

difference!

Best Wishes,

We are all different Lele, but the most effective are any forms

of iron, you should find a quite dramatic result.
