Guest guest
Hi Sue, I had very similar results to these, especially the DHEA. Before I start this protocol was O.K'd by Dr P. You need to supplement with DHEA as this is converted to cortisol, and to put it simply your DHEA levels cannot keep up with the bodies request to make cortisol.(DHEA is converted to cortisol) Some people need to start at fairly low levels, but some like me not, you will have to 'suck it and see' so to speak. You know you have insufficient levels so you relly need to build up to 25mgs plus, it could take a couple of months before you feel the effect as it can take time to feel the difference. You have to remember that your body did not get like this overnight so it will not be an overnight fix. With regard to the sleep problem perhaps you need Zinc. On the STTM site members have had good results from high level doses of Zinc or if that doesn't work then Seriphos (Phosphorylated Serine) which is an Adaptogen and adrenal support. Have a look before you dip your toe in. Kind regards, Tina. > > Hello > Can anyone help interpret the results of my Genova Diagnostics 24hr salivary cortisol test please, see results below > > Cortisol
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Sorry forgot to ask you, with regard to what you say about the Levo do you take your basal temp? If so you should do this will tell you if you are medicated sufficiently, and if it is working for you. It will also indicate when the DHEA supplements are starting to work, as if you have adrenal insuffiency your temps will be all over the place. Info about how to take your temp and the levels are in the files section if you need the info. Kind regards, Tina. > > Hello > Can anyone help interpret the results of my Genova Diagnostics 24hr salivary cortisol test please, see results below >
Guest guest
Hi Tina Thanks for your replies. I do take my basal temp every morning, my Temp has stabilised much more than it once was, and is now around 36.4 usually, should I take it more often than once a day? What is the STTM site? I already take zinc 14mg twice a day, does it need to be a higher dose than this? I am a little unsure of taking DHEA as have heard mixed reports on this. Can I take DHEA whilst on Levothyroxine? What is Seriphos (Phosphorylated Serine)and where would I buy it from? Guest guest
Your zinc supplement is a bit high, the recommended dose is 15mgs daily. Did you have a very low zinc level when tested? Read Dr Rind's information about temperature http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph / STTM stands for Stop the Thyroid Madness - another excellent web site with much information, but this is American, and their doctors tend to diagnose and treat differently to our doctors here in the UK. Yes, you can take DHEA with levothyroxine. Type 'Phosphorylated Serine suppliers UK' into your Search engine to find where you can buy it from. Guest guest
Hi Sue, You need to take your temp several times a day, prferably every for hours. You do this for several consecutive days. Take the average every day. If there is a .2 to .3 degree difference then it could indicate adrenal insufficiency. Not only that you may see the temps going all over the place. When my adrenals are playing up my temps will bounce around from 36.4 to 35.2 in the space of 2 hrs even though my environment etc was constant during that time. I note what Shiela says about the Zinc, yes you seem to be taking a fair amount of Zinc already, and if you have had a test that is useful. A tip I heard from another member on this site was to taste a zinc tablet, if you cannot taste it then you do not need supplementation. I would like to know if anybody else knows if there is science behind this. It is also said that you can tell how low in iodine you are by wiping some on your skin, the faster it disappears the more you are in need of supplementation. Guest guest
Hi Tina OK will look at Dr Rinds web site and follow his suggestions on temperature taking. No I haven't had a zinc test, GP said she couldn't test for that! but I will try your suggestion of tasting it & reduce my zinc supplementing just in case I'm overdosing on it. Did you find that supplementing with DHEA helped you? Is there anything to be aware of with taking DHEA? I also have a big problem with my legs jerking at night time when I go to bed and am relaxed, my legs jump right out of the bed and my whole body jerks, it's as if I have one of those electric exercise machines attached to my hips, it seems to stop when I get off to sleep and as soon as I wake again starts, does anyone have any ideas on this? I have been taking serotone 5HTP for the past couple of nights which has helped slightly with my sleep, but there is still plenty of room for improvement! Many thanks Sue > > Hi Sue, > > You need to take your temp several times a day, prferably every for hours. You do this for several consecutive days. Take the average > every day. I would like to know if anybody else knows if there is science behind this Professor Bryce- was the author of this test. The correct interpretation is that you need zinc if you can't taste the zinc tablet (only a very small part of the tablet is needed for this test; below a quarter) It might be worth reducing the amount pf zinc taken during the day (to 1 tab ~14mg Zn), and try and get a source with some copper (ratio 15mg Zn : 1mg Cu) so that you don't deplete your copper level, by accident. Guest guest
Hi Bob, Thanks for that, yes I agree about the copper , because I automatically get Zinc with copper I forgot to mention it. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Firstly please note Bobs reply inc comments on copper. With regard to DHEA, my ratio was out and so I supplement with DHEA ( I also chose to supplement with Pregnenolone which is a prescursor to DHEA and other hormones, I discussed this with Dr P and he said if it works for me then carry on) At the moment I am alternating between 25mg sublingual and transdermal DHEA/Pregnenolone . I did not have to gradually increase doseage, but from what I hear from others some people have to gradually increase there dose. Also if you get the side effect of facial hair from DHEA then you may need 7 Keto DHEA (more expensive)but Dr P says that DHEA is good for most people. As stated previously DHEA can take 2 months before you feel a difference. With regard to your legs, this could be due to a Magnesium deficiency. Magnesium oil spray on your legs before you go to bed would be ideal. A lot of people use oral supplements. I personally use it for arthritic pain. A company call Neem genie do a transdermal Magnesium with ADC which has an additive(tree derived) which accelerates and accentuates the transfer of Magnesium into the body. This company do a lot of transdermal products thathave been developed with the help of Dr Myhill. You can also get Magnesium oil spray from quite a few other companies now, but they will not have the ADC in them. Kind regards, Tina. Guest guest
I HAVE REMOVED PREVIOUS MESSAGES - PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE SENDING YOUR REPLIES. MODERATOR Hi Tina Thanks for your advice. I have some transdermal magnesium, so will try that, but I do already take magnesium before bedtime. I have ordered some 7 Keto & DHEA as Dr Rind suggests using the 7 Keto first then going onto DHEA, I'll give it a shot, as will try anything to get some better sleep and feel well again. The Zinc supplement I have is gel coated so I can't try tasting it, next time I buy will try to get uncoated & see whether I can taste. I do take copper too but only every other day as was unsure if I needed it. Kind Regards Sue > At the moment I am alternating between 25mg sublingual and transdermal DHEA/Pregnenolone . Guest guest
I wonder what would happen if we asked our local pharmacist if they would give us a zinc tablet to taste to see whether we need to supplement with zinc. It might be worth asking. After all, they are supposed to be there to help answer any questions we might have about supplements or drugs. Luv - Sheila Thanks for your advice.
