Hi Terry, I'm resolving that in my next life I will practice " pure " scientific methods on myself, i.e., one supplement at a time! However, in my random fashion I still notice that when I take Drenamin I seem to have more energy and a little more stamina. For me, that is significant. Guest guest
Adrenal Cortex extract contains natural adrenal cortex hormones from bovine source. What is " regular extract " ? Guest guest
Hello, My naturopath has put me on Adrenal Cortical Extract from a company called Biomax, which has been quite helpful. It contains all of the adrenal components in contrast to Cortef which I believe is only one component. However, I also take cortef--5 mg twice a day. Obviously, this is not doing anything for my DHEA levels; however, the 45 mg Armour thyroid plus the ACE has definitely given me a percentage increase in functionality. Guest guest
Hi Steve, Just wondered. Do you take 5 drops 3 times a day of ACE Biomax. Does your naturopath say it is okay to take it together with 5 mg of Cortef? Thanks. Guest guest
Nil, I take one dropperful of the ACE morning, noon and at bedtime, so three dropperfuls per day. My naturopath said that is fine to take the 5 mg cortef twice a day along with the ACE. Her protocol starts with getting the endocrine system balanced out before moving on to the three other steps because without this basis, she has found that people can't adequately deal with the other problems, such as the immune system and the gastrointestinal system. Guest guest
Thanks for this, Nil. It would have helped to have a good endocrinologist to start with. He scared me into thinking I might have an adrenal crisis because of my low cortisol levels. So I started everything at the top dose because he told me I was starting at a " low dose " . So it's too late to start slowly, but I can change my Florinef dosage to first thing in the a.m. I will check out the sites you sent. I am going down slowly on the Cortisone Acetate, but I don't know how far I'll go down. There's so much on the internet about adrenal fatigue that's about slightly low cortisol levels that doesn't apply to me because my levels were so low - my 60 minute levels in the ACTH test were 157 nmol/l when a normal response is >550 nmol/L. I am too weak to leave the house, I'm mostly in my recliner and so it's impossible for me to see another endocrinologist right now or to do much research. I appreciate your help. Kathy F. Re: Adrenal support Importance: High Kathy found this info for you about starting florinef slowly. ---------------------------------------------------------- Persons just starting Florinef often begin with 1/4 of the pill taken upon rising, and stay on that dose for 5 to 7 days. Then 1/2 a pill upon rising for the next 5 to 7 days. Then 3/4 of a pill upon rising for the next 5 to 7 days, and then maintain one pill upon rising at a dosage of 0.1 mg/day or as prescribed by your doctor. Healthy adrenals create their highest levels of Aldosterone in the morning, tapering down later in the day. This is why you take it upon rising. Typically no further doses are required as Florinef has a longer " half life " in the body compared to HC. When starting Florinef, less sodium will be " leaving the body " . The electrolyte balance should normalize, and this often means that more sodium is " retained " in the body. Persons with fluid retention issues should be aware that this can affect the amount of water retained in the body, as " water follows sodium " . There are a variety of things that can affect fluid retention including thyroid hormone levels - so this is just something to be alert for if it becomes an issue. One of the functions of aldosterone is to " maintain adequate blood pressure " , so it is advisable to monitor your blood pressure to see how you are responding to the medicine. One medical report stated " In the event transient hypertension develops as a consequence of therapy, the dose should be reduced to 0.05 mg daily. Guest guest
Another source tells that florinef is better not to be taken together with cortisone supplementation. So if you are taking cortisone in the morning I suggest you to take florinef at different time of the day. If your cortisol levels are really low you might need 37.5 mg cortisone acetate. It could be that you need to take it at different times of the day but i have no information on that. Also you said at your previous note that you were having severe reaction to even low amounts of medication. This is very important and you need to see an endocrinologist. It could also be that your florinef dosage was too low or too high.It could be that you have chemical sensitivities to excipients of the cortisone acetate. There might be varios problems and these need to be checked by someone who knows the subject. My knowledge will be insufficient to help you on this.I am sorry.Try to do your best to joing internet addison's groups. You may get some help there. bw nil RE: Adrenal support > So it's too late to start slowly, but I can change my Florinef dosage to > first thing in the a.m. I will check out the sites you sent. Guest guest
Hi. I don't often come here, but appreciate some advice please. Has anyone used online shop called 'Revital' who sells Nutri products and other supplements and has anyone had trouble with them? Dr P helped me for 3 years and I still need adrenal support. Now I live in outside Europe and had difficulty in finding a company who can send Nutri or other adrenals support to abroad. Eventually find 'Revital' on internet and ordered 4 bottles of Nutri Adrenal Extra of 120 tablets and paid by a credit card. A packet arrived but they sent me only 60 tablets bottles instead. There is no name of sender on the packet, but since Rivital is the only company I used, it is from them and also no invoice included. I have just sent an e-mail about this, but may not get right items. Fumiko
