Guest guest
I can answer the 2am and 10am questions but im not so sure on the 3-5pm. In the evening is when the body needs less cortisol, so people with adrenal problems tend to feel better in the eveing and late evening. But also people with adrenal problems can often suffer low cortisol symptoms in the day and then end up with high night time cortisol. Then in the morning is when the body " needs " the most cortisol with the main cortisol production window being between 4-8am. If you struggle with the mornings its often a sign of low thyroid, low adrenals or a mixture of both. (as to produce cortisol there needs to be sufficient T3 around) your body cant produce enough cortisol when your body needs it the most in the moring, so you tend to feel crapy or tired therefore getting out of bed is hard. Hope this helps Steve > > I took the adrenal test in the files section and I was wondering why all the questions about the sleeping patrterns matter? Like staying up till 2am, unable to get up before 10am? Tired between 3-5pm? I ask because I have struggled so long with all of those things and I was thought I was a failure because I couldn't function like everyone else. But those questions were 100% me! I was so shocked to be reading those questions and it being so spot on. SO what is the deal with that? Why does it work like that? WHy do I have the sleeping patterns that I cannot break free from? Where can I get more info on this? ANy info is appreciated > Thank you >
Guest guest
The deal is the association with low adrenal reserve, or adrenal fatigue. Your adrenals secrete certain levels of cortisol and DHEA at four specific times during the day, i.e. 8.00a.m., 12 noon, 4.00p.m. and again at midnight. We need to know what levels you are secreting at these specific times. We recommend that members, where they can, do the Genova Diagnostics 24 hour salivary adrenal profile. You can order this test through Genova Diagnostics and get a discount for being a TPA member. Go to our Files section thyroid treatment/Files/ - scroll down the page to the folder entitled 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and scroll down that page to 'Genova Diagnostics. Order the test you need, tell them Thyroid Patient Advocacy is your Practitioner. They will send you out the kit. Do this test on an ordinary day, not a day when you are resting all the time. When you get the results back, post them here and we will help with their interpretation. At 8.00a.m. your adrenals should be secreting the highest level of cortisol to help you get through the days chores and at midnight, your adrenals should be secreting the least amount of cortisol to help you have a full and restful nights sleep - each of the tests done throughout the day will show your adrenal activity at that particular time and could well explain why you are suffering the way you are. Wait for the results and see if low adrenal reserve is your problem. Read more about the thyroid/adrenal connection in our FILES SECTION, under the folder entitled 'Adrenals'.
