Guest guest
I agree with the MD as I have taken Nexium ( Proton Pump Inhibitor, stops Hydrochloric acid production) for 3 years. If, as the nutritionist says, that low acid results in putrefaction of everything and a complete lack of the absorption of protein then I (and millions of others) wouldn't be here by now and I certainly would not weigh 15 stone and be unable to shift it. As the MD says if this was the case then "Nexium would then be the best diet pill in the world" FW: Hydrochloric Acid Article I am posting this message onto the forum as I believe meant it to go there and not privately just to me. Luv - Sheila Dear Sheila and Friends,Thank you very much for all the hard work you do.I was just reading through the files and read the article calledMaximise your Progress with Hydrochloric AcidI googled the product mentioned and came across this article:http://tnation.t-nation.com/free_online_forum/diet_performance_nutrition_supplements/rebuttal_to_charles_poliquins_article_on_stomach_acid_I am not medically trained and have no idea which person is correct but I thought you might like to check up on it.Love No virus found in this message.Checked by AVG - www.avg.comVersion: 2012.0.1901 / Virus Database: 2109/4752 - Release Date: 01/18/
Guest guest
That article seems a bit muddley. For a start, is that acid provocation test a good way to measure stomach acid production? It sounds very like the usual NHS test for adrenal malfunction, the short synacthen test, which only picks up people with almost complete adrenal failure. There is another test available from Dr Myhill if you want a definitive answer about your stomach acid status. http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Hypochlorhydria_-_lack_of_stomach_acid_-_can_caus\ e_lots_of_problems Another strange thing in the article is that he argues stomach acid is not needed for protein digestion, carbohydrate digestion or fat digestion. If that is the case, what does he imagine stomach acid is for? He seems unaware that there needs to be sufficient stomach acid because it acts as the trigger for production of bile (for fat digestion) and the production of pancreatic enzymes (for the digestion he mentions take place lower down in the gut). Having low stomach acid does not cause complete malnutrition, but partitial malnutrition. So you could quite easily put on weight, especially as you would very likely be suffering from deficiencies in essential minerals, leading to imbalances in your system. If you still feel convinced by Dr Ralph Giarnella's article then I would read " Why stomach acid is good for you " by Dr , to get the full picture.
