I know this is a UK forum but you came highly recommended and I love all the education on here. I just need to figure out if I can get the saliva test etc here in USA too? I do know how to get thyroid meds but just not sure about the testing before I start. The majority of the information here will also apply to the USA and yes, you can get the Saliva test in the US. Go to our Files section thyroidaptientadvocacy/Files/ and on the page that opens, scroll down the long list there until you come to the folder entitled 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements'. Open that and click on 'Genova Diagnostics' and order whatever tests you want there. Follow the instructions on ordering, and tell them that you are in the US, and they will transfer your details to their US office and the kits will be sent too you from there. Once you get the results, do post them here on the forum together with the reference range and we will help with their interpretation. Ask your GP to check your levels of iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. If any of these are low, they must be supplemented before starting thyroid hormone. Good to know that we come " highly recommended " *grin*.
