Guest guest
Who told you they were useless? They work for me... if I reduce the dose, my symptoms return. Unlikely to be a placebo effect as occasionally I've forgotten my lunchtime dose and I start to feel strange in the evening... then realise I didn't take my NAX! Guest guest
Hi Nicola, Can you let us have some more information please, Where did you get the information that they they reduced cortisol? How do they do this and what are they useless for? I imagine that they woud be useless for, say, curing a broken leg, but how are they useless for adrenals? Plenty of people take them and are happy with them, Is your source of information able to expand on the statement that they are useless? . > > Hi, > > does anyone else take Nutri adrenal extra? Guest guest
It sounds as though the person who was talking to you thought that Nutri Adrenal Extra (NAX) contained enough adrenal hormones to suppress your own production of cortisol. They are only an adrenal support and nutritional supplement so they are certainly not capable of doing that. If they were, they would need a prescription. I would now double check anything that person tells you in future, as they are obviously not well informed. It is true that some people can react strongly to NAX. This can be the case if you have a backlog of unused thyroid hormone, for example. Then when the adrenals start working better you can suddenly use that thyroid hormone and may feel a bit buzzy for a while until things settle down. My brother was sensitive even to half a Nutri Adrenal (NA) tablet, but he has built up to taking one NAX and 6 NA and finds he doesn't get that slump in the middle of the afternoon any more. Guest guest
Always before posting information such as this onto a public forum where there are thousands of members, you need to be sure of your facts - and this message has nothing to do with facts. Go back to your source of information and ask them to point you in the right direction to prove WHY they are useless. If this was the case, why is it that thousands of people in the UK alone are regaining better health after using them. I have been taking them daily as a 'maintenance dose' to keep my adrenals strong and healthy. We would NOT be advocating their use if they were bad. I wonder, are you a member of the 'Hypothyroidism' group and got this information from there. There is certain little man who rules this group who calls all doctors who work outside mainstream medicine 'quacks' and all supplement manufacturers as creating dangerous rubbish made with dangerous stuff, just so they can have fat, healthy pockets. Guest guest
I'm taking NAX, as well as a bunch of supplements (D, C, B complex and B12, selenium, ashwaghanda, licorice & rhodiola) for the past few months, and I can't say I feel any particular effect from any of them. I think I'm doing a *bit* better than I was, and my temperatures look a shade more stable. I left it too late to take my NAX today so skipped it - and don't feel any different! I thought my nervy-mouth-chewing might have got worse from the NAX, but I've been doing it today, with no NAX, so it may be nothing to do with them. I'm going to keep it up for another few months probably, in the hope that it is supporting my poor adrenal state (low cortisol except at bedtime), while I also work on my iron levels (having to do this with minimal iron supplementation as my stomach can't seem to tolerate it) - and then I'll most likely try NDT and stop taking the NAX. (Is that wise, Sheila? Do you think I should continue the NAX when I start NDT?) x H
Guest guest
I really don't think they are useless, either. I don't think they agree with everyone though, but what does. There are alternatives like this http://www.mandimart.co.uk/adrenal-cortex-50mg-by-thorne-research-60-capsules-71\ 9-p.asp chris > > > > > Who told you they were useless? > They work for me... if I reduce the dose, my symptoms return. Guest guest
Were you tested first to see whether or not you needed these supplements Helen. If your body doesn't need them, you shouldn't be taking them. How much Nutri Adrenal Extra are you taking daily. If you have bad case of low adrenal reserve, you should be increasing your dosage by 1 tablet every 2 to 3 weeks by another tablet - only take the second tablet with your lunch. Increase this way until you feel your symptoms disappearing. You can take up to 6 NAX daily, but if this doesn't work, you may need a short course of hydrocortisone. What iron are you taking and how much, and are you taking high doses of vitamin C with it, e.g. 3/4000mgs. Are you taking your iron with food? Are you taking foods that are high in iron. What was the result of your last iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin tests and can you give us the reference range of these tests. You should continue taking the Nutri Adrenal Extra when you start taking any form of thyroid hormone replacement. You need to get your adrenals well supported so they can cope. Guest guest
Thank you . I am happy taking them, but realise now (after reading Sheilas post)that it is safe to up the number (currenly 2 per day) to 6 per day. I was given wrong information (not from this site) and I am no longer going to the source of that info. If you wish I will email you privately more info. I currently only take 2 NAE and all I initally wanted to know was it is ok to take more and how many per day because I was worried about taking too many B vits. I think I may add NA, I never even thought of adding just NA! thanks miriam.x
