Guest guest
Hello, Please can somebody help me? I got my test results yesterday and my GP thinks they are all good, so he refuses to do anything apart from he suggested that he could double up my Levo to a 100mcg and that he will contact some 'endo advisors' and ask them what to do with me, if anything... I said to him that they don't know me, but he didn't care. He was very impatient when I said I wan't happy with the results, and he said that this is outside his competecy so he won't prescribe me T3. All he cares about is the numbers and not my symptoms. I gave him a list with them and info on why one wouldn't convert, etc. but it doesn't seem like he read it and he keeps saying that this is outside of his competency yet I had this issue for well over a year and he would have had ample amount of time to educate himself, but he doesn't, and just hides behind the 'this is outside of my competency' clause. Last year he referred me to an endo, whom I did see, but I had to wait over 2 months for the appointment and I went to see Dr P in the meantime. I started to take the supplements he prescribed (5x NAX, 5x Nutri Thyroid, CoQ10, Vit C) and by the time my appointment came with the endo, I felt much better and my bloot test results were better too, so he didn't change anything, just told me to carry on taking the supplements. Now my GP uses this against me and says that even when he referred me to an endo, the endo didn't change anything either, even though I explained it to my GP several times about me starting to take the supplements. I spend a lot of money on supplements and I tried to cut down on the Nutri Thyroid as suggested, but I felt spaced out and unwell, so I went back to 5 and I feel better on that. Do I have to take these supplements for the rest of my life now?? I'm taking 5x NAX, 5x Nutry Thyroid, CoQ10 (300mg), Selenium (200ng), B12, Folate (800mg), Omega 3,6,9, Vit C (3-4g), D3 (2000-4000iu), Chromium picolinate (500-1000mg, to help with hypoglycaemia), I stopped Ca, Mg, Zn and Cu as advised here, but I don't know if I should have as my Ca and MG levels seem good with the supplementation... In Dec I took Nystatin for a month followed by Lufenuron in Jan (for the Candida), and take bicarbonate of soda every morning in water. I eat a very good, gluten and lactose-free low GI diet, can't exercise because it makes me feel exhausted. I did Genova tests last year that detected low adrenal function and candida too. Do I need to test these again? Here I my test results: TSH: 0.35 (0.27 - 4.2) T4: 15 (12-22) FT3: 4.0 (3.9-6.7) Ferritin: 41 (13-150) Ca: 2.33 (2.1-2.55) Mg: 0.82 (0.7-1) RT3 - THEY APPARENTLY CAN'T DO THIS, MY GP SAID HE ENQUIRED, and he also asked for it on the form... Folate: 19.8 (4.6-18.7) - Should I stop supplementing this for a while / reduce?? B12: 709 (197-866) TPO: 1iu (>50iu) White Blood Cell: 4.03 (4.00-10.5) Lymphocite: 1.2 (1.3-4) Hemoglobin: 14 (11-16) Albumin: 42 (35-49) I asked him why my White Blood Cell and Lymphocite is always so low, and he said 'it could be a number of things' but dismissed it as a problem! Surely that's not normal?? I know I will need to supplement Iron to bring up my Ferritin levels, as Sheila said it should be over 90. What do I take and how much?? Do I have to take it forever? I had low Ferritin before, and have taken Floradix which is very gentle, but my Ferritin level seems to drop if I stop supplementing. Also, shall I start taking T3 after I have taken iron for a few weeks and my levels went up (I will have to decide this myself as my GP is not going to test again as he thinks my Ferritin level is 'normal'. If I take T3, how much and when? And do I need to increase my T4 or adding T3 to the current 50mcg of Levo will be OK? We increased my T4 last year to 75mcg and then to a 100mcg, but my FT3 stayed low and I had hyper symptoms...) What do I do next? I'm confused and feel rubbish, all my back and neck muscles ache, feel shattered all the time, I have headaches every day, muzzy headed, brain fog, forget words mid-sentence, feel depressed (my GP tried to say that I'm depressed and offered me antidepressants which I declined...), anxiety sometimes, bad sleep, very bad cold and heat tolerance, dizziness, hoarse voice, difficulties getting up in the morning, bloating, dry skin, puffy face, loss of outer eyebrows, oedema, difficulties concentrating, feeling spaced out. I gave a list to my GP with all this, but he just focussed on the depression-like symptoms, and wanted to flog me antidepressants. Please can anyone advise what to do next? Thanks in advance, and sorry about the long post, just so upset and frustrated! Anita
