Guest guest
Hi AllI am self treating due to being unable to get a diagnosis from my GP or endo.I am currently taking 70 mgs T3, split throughout the day, and 100mgs T4 at bedtime. I have worked up to this level over a period of about six months and have felt better than I have for years. Almost all my hypo symptoms have gone and I have no hyper symptoms. If I was not hypothyroid as my GP suggests, would I definitely have hyper symptoms on these doses? If so, I am going to write to my GP and endo and try to push for a diagnosis. Thanks for your timeJackiexx
Guest guest
Jackie, for anybody taking thyroid hormone replacement, especially in the doses that you are taking, if you were not hypothyroid, then you most definitely would not be extremely hyPERThyroid. If only doctors would learn that if their patients thyroid function tests are 'normal' and they are complaining of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, to give them a trial of thyroid hormone replacement. It is not dangerous, and if their patient's symptoms improve, then they know they need it, and if they get symptoms of hyperthyroidism, then they do not.
