Guest guest
REposting as when read realised it had not kept same format as on my computer and was confusing! Have new result for Adrenal stress test and would like to understand what is happening at moment and so have posted test from 18 months ago for comparison. > > Hi all and thank you Sheila for suggesting I repeat my Adrenal Stress Profile (I have done this via TPA, many thanks). I have the results. I had previously had this done in June 2010 and now 21st Jan (so 18 months apart). I was quite ill with severe food allergy/diarrehoea following stress over a long period of time the first time, this has much improved l although not completely but I still have lots of problems plus symptoms of Hypothyroid and have never returned to my former self. I will post both tests for comparison. Are you able to tell which way I am going? (GENOVA, Ref ranges the same for both tests). I am not taking any medication apart from HCL/digestive enzymes and Vit C 500mg twice a day. I recently stopped zinc. The waking cortisol has now improved although a couple of hours or so later it hits the deck. > I also took advice & went to my GP and asked for a referral to Dr Skinner, my GP agreed but then rang me to say she had changed her mind (due to the GMC hearing). She offered a referral to a local endocrinologist, I checked he treats with T3 (rarely) so accepted. She later said she would reconsider a ref to Dr Skinner later if unsuccessful with local endo! > I also had lots of other tests from Genova for thyroid, I will post those separately but seems mainly Peroxidase (will need your help to understand rest please!) > > THANK YOU! > >
Guest guest
Thanks for reposting - yes, the first attempt was quite confusing. > NOW (26/01/12) > > SAMPLE 1 post waking 15.1 (12-22 cortisol ref limits nmol/L) This has improved considerably - do you feel better in a morning now? > SAMPLE 2 (+4-5 hours) 3.0 (low) (5.0-9.0 cortisol ref limits nmol/L) This is dropping further and outside of the bottom of the range. > SAMPLE 3 (+4-5 hours) 3.4 (3.0-7.0 cortisol ref limits nmol/L) This too is dropping and is right at the very bottom of the range. > SAMPLE 4 (prior to sleep) 2.1 (1.0-3.0 cortisol ref limits nmol/L) - This is too high. You are probably having problems either getting to sleep or staying asleep. It should be around 1.0. You could benefit by taking DHEA 25mcgs daily. You would also benefit greatly by taking Nutri Adrenal Extra (see our FILES section which you can access from the ome Page of this forum). When there, scroll down the list and open the one entitled 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and then click on the 'Nutri Ltd' document and you will see TPA members get a discount of 33% on supplements. You should also be taking a higher dose of vitamin C e.g. 1000mcgs 3 times daily. Vitamin B Complex, Selenium 200mcgs daily with food. You must concentrate on boosting your adrenals. Start by taking one tablet of Nutri Adrenal Extra with breakfast, and in 2 to 3 weeks, take another tablet with lunch (do not take after 1.00p.m.). After another 2 to 3 weeks, if you still don't feel any different, add another tablet with breakfast. You can increase this way by taking up to 6 tablets daily, but if this amount is not helping, you may need a short course of Hydrocortisone. Have you asked your GP to test your levels of iron, transferrin saturation%, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc - or are you waiting to ask the endocrinologist to test these. You need to know whether any of these are low in the range. Guest guest
Thanks Shelia, I appreciate the speed of reply - I know you are particularly busy at mo. I am encouraged at the thought of taking something that will boost my energy and make me feel better. Should I start the DHEA before the endo appt (4-6 weeks time) in case it confuses any tests he does? Are there any side effects or dangers with it? Does it actually help to restore the adrenals or is it just to feel better? As I have hypophosphatasia as well, which means I don't have the enzyme to deal with phosphates, my B6 is 434 (15.0-73.0 is normal range). I can't knock off the phosphate from the pyridoxil, I probably can't utilise B6 in that form anyway. I was wondering about the Nutri Adrenal Extra as I guess it has B6 in it. If so, is there another way of doing it? " Have you asked your GP to test your levels of iron, transferrin saturation%, > vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc - or are you > waiting to ask the endocrinologist to test these. You need to know whether > any of these are low in the range " . I have the following results:- B12 408ng/L (246.0-911) (previously 529 over 1 year ago) Serum folate 7.8ug/L (5.4-20) (previously 8.9 July 2010) May 2011 Magnesium 0.98 mmol/L (0.8-1.15) October 2011 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D 75nmol/L (no ref range given) Potassium 4.3mmol/L (3.5-5.1) Serum ferritin is old result (September 2009) 54.2 ug/L (20.0-300.0) I cant see an iron result I had an atrocious diet 2008 until about a year or so ago due to intolerance+ I have the results of Total Thyroid screen and awaiting result of urine T3/screen, will post later. Guest guest
I can see no problem in you starting the DHEA before your endocrinologists appointment. Unless you are suffering with 's disease, they are not likely to suggest doing a short synacthen or ACTH test so not likely to mess those up. You need to start to look after yourself and it annoys me so much when we are being left without any treatment/supplements until we see a specialist, who can take up to 3 months to see us in some cases. Here is a link where you can read about DHEA and it's uses http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/staying-forever-young-565335.html and also read http://www.well-women.com/support-files/fromthehormonehandbook.pdf If you type 'Nutri Adrenal Extra Ingredients into Google', you will find just how much of the different B vitamins it has I have the following results:- B12 408ng/L (246.0-911) (previously 529 over 1 year ago) - you could take 1000mcgs sublingual B12 as a maintenance dose as I do and this would stop your B12 from falling Serum folate 7.8ug/L (5.4-20) (previously 8.9 July 2010) - this is still too low and you could try 899mcgs Folic Acid. Serum ferritin is old result (September 2009) 54.2 ug/L (20.0-300.0) might be an idea to get this retested and also Haemoglobin, plus transferrin saturation%.
