Guest guest
I had loads of hypothyroid symptoms and however high the thyroxine dose they wouldn't go, so I had a private blood test done which showed my T3 was under range. I went to a private doctor who did a 24 hour urine test where result also showed T3 under range. Private doctor said it didn't look as if I was converting and prescribed T3. Guest guest
If you have been taking synthetic thyroxine (levothyroxine) for many months and your symptoms are not going, then you need a trial of synthetic T3 (Liothyronine) in combination with your L-thyroxine. After titrating the dose, if that is not taking away your symptoms, then try natural desiccated porcine thyroid extract, because that has T4, T3, T2, T1 plus calcitonin in. If, again after titrating your dose, you find this still doesn't work, then you may want a trial of synthetic T4 (Liothyronine/Cytomel). However, please do this under the supervision of a medical practitioner. Guest guest
Within the NHS, absolutely nowhere, but thyroid research/trials show that if iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc show low in the reference ranges, then no amount of thyroid hormone (not even your own) can be fully utilised at the cellular level. See attached . This is why it is important that all of these are tested if you are suffering with symptoms of low thyroid Luv - Sheila Where does all the Vitamin and Mineral testing come within this trialing period? 1 of 1 File(s) MINERALS AND VIT. Guest guest
It's best to get as many of the tests done as possible before you see Dr S as this will save both him and you time and you can then get on with whatever is needed having the results in front of you. Besides wanting such results for him, you need these results for yourself so if any of them are not where they should be, you can get on with doing whatever is necessary to put them right. Luv - Sheila Sorry Sheila I meant, where in the starting out to cure yourself does it come? Should you get all of these things done before doing anything else (which makes sense to me) or should you do it at some stage later on after you have seen Dr Skinner for instance? I expect it makes more sense to be armed with them all before setting off because I assume that Dr Skinner (or other good doctors) would want to know about these before they proceed to alter any of your medications?
