Guest guest Posted January 10, 2002 Report Share Posted January 10, 2002 XB Rajasthan Society World AIDS Day Report (December 1, 2001) FXB Jaipur Activities commenced early at 8:00am with a street play at Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Gandhi Nagar followed by a lecture to the teachers and 500 girls students of the school on HIV/AIDS. Attraction of the activities was an elephant, which was flagged off by the FXB staff at 10:00am from FXB's office with FXB banners and information about HIV/AIDS for the message passing through all the important places and streets of the Pink City of Jaipur. Bhojpura Slum, which is being adopted by FXB, a street play, was conducted and pamphlets about HIV/AIDS were distributed, at Gaurav Towers shopping complex booth was put and message was given about HIV/AIDS. FXB Khichan FXB Khichan had organized an awareness rally. The strength of the rally was 500 boys and girls. Rajasthan Administrative Services Officer of the town Mr. Durgesh Bissa (District Magistrate) flagged off the rally. The rally became a major attraction for the villagers of Khichan and a powerful source for spreading HIV/AIDS awareness as it passed through the streets. FXB Sumerpur FXB Sumerpur organized a Targeted Intervention program for the barbers of Sumerpur and Sheoganj. The program began at 12:00 noon at FXB Centre for Infectious Diseases/Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Sumerpur. Approximately 100 people attended the program which included college students, attendants from the Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Dr. Roop Singh, Ms. Trilochana Shanhani, and Mr. Vishwanath Gaur imparted awareness lecture to this group. Banners and posters were put up in the hospital and all around Sheoganj and Sumerpur. Emphasis was given on the slogan for this year, " I care...Do you? " IEC material was distributed. FXB Kuchera FXB Kuchera had organized an awareness school rally. The strength of the rally was 450 boys and girls. The rally became a major attraction within the town because probably it was the first ever rally regarding HIV/AIDS in this village. All the students were told about the awareness of the global petition for AIDS orphans and approximately 500 students and others signed the petition form. Chief Medical and Health Officer of Nagore inaugurated FXB Counseling Center at Government Community Health Center Kuchera. FXB Jodhpur Dr. K.C. Joshi was invited as key speaker in a program organized by Yugander Society. This program was organized to release 2nd edition of book on basic information on HIV/AIDS written and compiled by NSS wing of Jodhpur University. Health Minister of the Government of Rajasthan was the chief guest at the function and he released the book. All India Radio (AIR) invited Dr. Joshi to speak about HIV/AIDS in Marwari (local language) for their talk show, which they broadcast on AIR in " Chaupal " (name of the program) on December 1, 2001. FXB Jodhpur organized a program, " Youth for Youth " at Government Polytechnic College, Jodhpur, in which FXB invited NSS wings of all the schools and colleges. Most of the volunteers came in the form of rally passing through streets. One hundred fifty students were present in the program. All India Radio organized quiz competition and Dr. Joshi spoke in brief about HIV/AIDS. Modicare Enterprises invited Dr. Joshi as a chief speaker and guest of honor on an essay, drawing competition and awareness programme.
