Guest guest
Some people are lucky enough to get blood drawn on the NHS, in which ecase it will not cost you anything. However in some cases, as in mine, I could not get anyone on the NHS willing to do it for me and I had to go to a private hospital to do this. It was quite a few years ago now so prices might have increased, but they charged me then £15. Of course different private hospitals can charge different prices. Lilian Can anyone give me an idea how much it will cost (if anything) to have blood drawn on the NHS?

Guest guest
I've had blood drawn at the local private hospital, where you get a smiley face, free car parking and seen straight away, and I've had it drawn at the NHS hospital, where I paid for parking, walked round the hospital for ages to find the right bit, the nurse was grumpy and said she was busy on Wednesdays so I had a 30 minute wait. Both places cost £15. . > > Can anyone give me an idea how much it will cost (if anything) to have blood drawn on the NHS? >
Guest guest
I had mine drawn at my local gym (i dont even have membership at the gym) Its a registered blood drawing place on the NHS. I usually always go there with my NHS blood requests, but one time i took along my genova private test and they drew the blood in their tube but then transfered it into my genova tube and let me take it away. I think im quite lucky as not alot of people have had the same thing happen. It was free and i think they like me or feel sorry for me as at christmas i even got a card and some chocolate haha Steve > > Can anyone give me an idea how much it will cost (if anything) to have blood drawn on the NHS? > > I will be ordering the thyroid screen from Genova tomorrow, just need an idea of how much it's going to cost altogether. > > Niki >
Guest guest
Hi; I get my blood drawn at my gp's surgery. I book an appt with the nurse by phone and just take my private blood request with me. Fortunately, I have never been charged for this. regards Jane > > I had mine drawn at my local gym (i dont even have membership at the gym) Its a registered blood drawing place on the NHS. >
Guest guest
I tried my GP's surgery - no joy, they told me to contact the path lab at the hospital. I have sorted it now - took a bit of explaining, I am astounded at how dense the person was to be quite honest! 'I need some blood taken for a private thyroid screen, I will be providing the tubes and needles etc' is not complicated is it? But no, I had to explain it half a dozen different ways before she grasped what I was after. And this was the head of the department... Anyhoo, once she'd grasped the concept we got it sorted, I'm going in Thursday (ordered the kit today so hoping I have it by then, otherwise Monday) and it'll cost me £10. Nice! Guest guest
They can't read either. Took form in to have various tests done, saw doctor this afternoon, asked for copy of results, and half of what he had asked for had not been done, and they weren't controversial things like T3. Just HbA1c for diabetes, LFT, and a couple of others. They did the colesterol and the TSH, which I am glad to say he was quite satisfied with. I think this one actually understands that the TSH will be suppressed whilst taking T3 - last one not only didn't understand, he didn't want to understand, didn't want to listen to me at all. Thank goodness he chucked me off his list. Best day's doctoring he has done. Guest guest
That's a good idea. It should be cheaper than having to go to a private hospital to have blood drawn, which is what I have to do at the moment.
