Guest guest
Fantastic!!! > > For those who need reinforcing - I went to the doc today to review a blood test taken a week ago. My cholesterol was the same level as I had been (188 total) but my bad guys were down 20 points, which means the good guys were up 40 points. The doc was excited and asked what I was doing differently. I told her but it did not get through. All I have been doing differently is drinking kombucha. Just a little too - about 4 ounces a day. > Gayla > Always Enough Ranch > Acampo, California > http://bouncinghoofs.com/alwaysenough.html > Bill Barnhill is our Inspiration! Guest guest
The doc had put me on a cholesterol lowering med a year ago which I conveniently " forgot " to take. This works much better. Guest guest
phlmanfornow: Mention to your doctor the possibility of taking Niaspan. It is a slow-delivery pill for Niacin, that you take before going to bed. Niacin has been shown to be the most effective way to increase your good cholesterol (HDL). I have been taking it for years with excellent results. > > Hi all... > I just spoke to my Doc, and he advised me that my " good " cholesterol > level was low, but my " bad " cholesterol level was slightly higher. Guest guest
Let's ALL celebrate with a glass of kt. Congrats suzy!!!! Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile cholesterol I am extremely healthy. However, I have always had cholesterol over 200. The last time it was 232. Even though my bad cholesterol is always low and it is the good cholesterol pulling it up, I have always been discouraged and believed one day I would need pharmecutical help. Well I've been drinking Kombucha regularly since last summer. I just came back from the doctor's and my cholesterol was 187. Suzy
Guest guest
Lu, I would think that green smoothies would help a lot. A low fat diet is just self-destructive. The body NEEDS fat desperately. And you cannot beat the fat in kefir. Taste-wise, I haven't done you any favors. Green smoothies are a little difficult to take. I also suggest that you get a juicer and use it. Juicing fruit is also a lot of fun and can make up for the damage that I have done to your cuisine by suggesting green smoothies. and Katrina Bird's Incredibly Lucky Daddy > > From: shavig@... > Date: Sat, 16 Jul 2011 12:40:53 -0700 > Subject: cholesterol > > Will using raw goat's milk raise my cholesterol? Guest guest
Took me a full year to drink a green smoothie. And I'm friends with Boutenko!!! I have been drinking a green smoothie made with kefir(about a cup & sometimes a cup of water kefir as well), mango, and half a head of greens from the garden. I like the taste. However, I've only been doing that for about a month. And I agree about low fat, I was just curious what the take on goat fat is. Lu

Guest guest
After reading all the stuff about statins I'm stopping taking them, especially as I've been getting so much cramp. I've looked at a few older posts and I think I need to take: 300 mg coq10 350mg niacin Vit c (not sure on dose level) Magnesium (not sure of dose) Is this correct? Please could you also tell me if any particular brand is better to buy. If you have too much of any of these in your body will you just excrete them or could they be stored to make toxic levels? Many thanks Jane
Guest guest
Can anyone tell me the best flushing niacin to buy. I've looked and seen some slow release ones and some with other stuff in and I'm getting a bit lost. Email me if you don't want to post a name. I'd also appreciate knowing the best place to buy it from. Many thanks Jane
Guest guest
Hi again Now got the niacin but only managed to get 100mg tabs. When is the best time to take it? Should I split the dose or go for the full 350g in one fell swoop? Jane > > Jane, have you tried your local health food store. Give them a ring and ask > whether they have the 'flushing' Vitamin B3 and what is the highest dose >
Guest guest
I would go for the full 300mgs (forget the 350mgs) all in one go so that you only get the 'flush' once, as some people find it a bit uncomfortable to start with, but it does get better. Best to take it with your meal in the evening because taking with food stops the flush and you should also take an Aspirin with it too as that helps control the flush too. If you take it with your evening meal and you are not going out, you can enjoy your lovely warm glow all to yourself and not worry about looking like a lobster. The feeling doesn't last much longer than half an hour, but boy, is this doing you good. Luv - Sheila Hi again Now got the niacin but only managed to get 100mg tabs. When is the best time to take it? Guest guest
Hi Anita I have raised cholesterol and take statins. Statins are particularly bad for hypothyroid people. I've decided to take the step of self medicating for my cholesterol ( a big step as I've had a heart attack). Niacin is an over the counter nutrient proven to lower cholesterol. The dose is 350mg, plus it is advised to take 300mg of CoQ10 at the same time. I think I've got all that right - it's all fairly new to me :-) Jane > > What is flushing niacin please and what does it do and what dose needs to be taken? > > Thanks, > > Anita
