Guest guest
Dear Sheila, On Nov 5th last, I had a 24-hour salivary Adrenal test, as advised on this forum. I did, via Genova Diagnostics, and post the results below. CORTISOL LEVELS nmol/L 9.15am 11.6 LOW Range 12 - 22 2.15pm 5.4 Range 5 - 9 7.15pm 10.8 HIGH Range 3 - 7 11.15pm 1.9 Range 1 - 3 Total Daily Cortisol 29.7 Range 21 - 41 DHEA LEVELS 2.15pm 0.10 7.15pm 0.13 DHEA Mean 0.12 Range 0.10 - 0.50 DHEA/CORTISOL RATIO 0.39 LOW Range 0.4 - 2.0 I would be pleased to receive any comments and advice as to treatment I may need, if any, based on these results. My latest TSH test was rewcently measured at 1.01 mu/L and my endocronologist referred to this as 'normal'. I have been on 75mcg Levothyroxine since diagnosis of hypothyrodism (with antibodies) in June 2011 when I had a TSH of 25. He told my GP not to increase dosage and to keep my TSH between 1 and 2 and in view of my Osteoporosis should avoid having a completely suppressed TSH as this will only increase bone turnover. However I have not lost any of my weight gain, I am still losing my hair and my cholestrol is still raised at 6.8 mmo/L. My endo says my TSH reading is now 'normal'. If so should I not expect my symptoms to have improved? June
Guest guest
--- In thyroid treatment , " Sheila " <sheila@...> > Who told you that your 3rd and 4th test results were 'normal'. They are NOT > normal at all. The literature attached to the results stated that the last 3 were normal. My Consultant carried out a one time blood adrenal test a couple of weeks before I took this test and the results showed as normal ( not the test that you suggested though). I took this test because I felt that his test didn't show the whole picture. At the time I was hyper and was suffering from huge adrenal surges and a racing heart which was massively scary. Fortunately those have both stopped since my thyroxine dose was reduced to 75mcg from 100. I'm hoping that a repeat test in a month or so will show an improvement because I already feel a lot better. Your early morning result is VERY high - you must be bouncing around like the Mad Hare! Your GP should send you to the hospital to get a short synacthen test done to see what is really happening. I will try to get this arranged but I don't hold out much hope since my GP has previously dismissed adrenal issues as a cause. I have an appointment booked with Dr P in March so I will repeat the test before then and take the results with me. thanks again for your input. > > Luv - Sheila > [Ed]
