Guest guest
Hi Kathleen what times of the day are you taking your T3 at. What is your body temperature variation during the day, before and after your T3 doses? Same for heart rate and blood pressure? What are your other symptoms? What T3 dosages have you tried in the past and what was the result? I'm assuming that you've given up on T4. > > I have been taking 25mcg 3 times a day, and have also cut my prednisolone down to
Guest guest
HI PAUL I take 25mcg T3 at about 7am, but it depends if I fall asleeep before taking it. The next dose of 25mcg I take at about 12-30 pm and I was taking the third dose of 25mcg at 5-30pm which is the one I have reduced to half. I also increased the prednisolone from 5mg to 71/2mg as I was in a lot of pain with what was diagnosed as polymyalgia. This Polymyalgia came on after I had a fall on a bus. It appears to have benefitted me by doing this as my BP was rising and it has now gone back down. It could be the stress of pain might be causing the BP to rise, but will keep some more checks on it. I am not sure if its due to the iron I am taking, and I have had problems with prescribed iron in the past, so I decided that this Gentle Iron by Solgar which is vegetarian, non constipating no sugar, no salt and starch free might suit me. I have noticed a rash on my ankles which looks worse in the morning, and I wonder if its due to this iron. My GP did say that it would be ok to take iron. I also feel that a mesh tape put in to hold the neck of the bladder up is the cause of pain in the groin and bladder that I experiance every night is causing inflamation. The mesh from these tapes are causing a lot of problems to patients and not just to women.Breast implants and hip replacements are also causing problems. I should think that in turn it would cause problems to the Thyroid. Removal of this mesh can cause even more problems. I am going to see my GP on Monday to ask if he can send me for a special type of scan to see if it can detect a problem with this mesh. The rise that I experiance in ESR and CRP suggests that there is inflamation but not where it is. I spoke to my GP about the T4 that he wanted me to take, and its a good job that I have not been on T4 as BOOTS had been several weeks in trying to get what I used to take, and my GP agreed that if it was causing my BP to rise that it would not do my heart or kidneys anygood, so as I don't like wasting prescriptions I cancelled the prescription. As an afterthought it could be a good thing that BOOTS cannot obtain the T4 that I was taking especially if it causes me more problems. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen you're going to have to be more specific as to what exactly you'd like help with here. If it is with some suggestions on the T3 then I'll need information on body temperature, heart rate and BP in the daytime- actual results from measurements several times per day in order to get a feel for what is happening. I can see your T3 dosage: 25@7:00am, 25@ 12:30pm, 25@5:30pm but I have no idea from this email what actually is happening during the day and what exactly you need help with. If you can put it all in one succinct post I'd appreciate it. Thanks > > HI PAUL >
Guest guest
HI PAUL I think I might have found out what the problem is. I have made an enquiry to the place I purchased this Gentle Iron from and they came back mentioning calcium, so I have now gone back to them if the Gentle Iron is Calcium as there is nothing to say that it is calcium. If this is the case would Iron prescribed actually be calcium. I have already noted that I do have problems with calcium, and suspect that the cloudy urine is caused by calcium deposits, so is this no wonder that my GP suggests that I take Iron. I also had a rash when prescribed VIT D3 and CALCIUM CARBONATE. I even had problems in pregnancy with IRON and I was also put on IRON leading up to the electrolyte imbalance. I had in the past established that Pimozide contained the same calcium that can cause stones. Could you or anyone else confirm if if IRON is Calcium or contains calcium. I have only been taking one a day of this Gentle Iron, but will be leaving it off for a few days. Family members also have milia type spots like I have which I believe are caused by calcium. Could a problem with Calcium also cause the BP to rise and how would a problem with calcium affect T3. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I don't think I can actually understand what you mean. If there is a product labelled 'gentle iron' and it really is calcium then I'd do them on the trades description act. Iron and calcium are two entirely different elements. Iron is an element and is just iron. Iron supplements are usually combined with other elements, e.g. ferrous sulphate. I'd have to check if any iron products can have any calcium in them but I doubt it and if they do then the calcium levels would need to be very low. Can anyone else help here? > > HI PAUL
Guest guest
Can't make out what you are asking for Kathleen. Iron is iron, and calciuim is calcium. Are you asking if there is calcium in the Gentle Iron. I think you need to wait and see what response they give. Did you ask them for all the ingredients? Sheila I think I might have found out what the problem is. Guest guest
HI PAUL I too was confused by the response when I queried Solgar Gentle Iron which is (iron bisglycinate)which is ferrous, and they came back mentioning calcium. I got back to them with a query and they said that they had wrongly put calcium instead of iron in their response. They have however suggested that I stop taking this iron for a few days to see if the rash goes. There is no mention of sulphate on the bottle. I also had a better night last night with less pain, which could be due to increasing the Prednisolone. The rash looks worse, and my legs look dry, and in the past they have had a sheen to them like I have polished them. I do not use soap etc on my skin, and do have a salt softener, which is not used for drinking. I noticed too that my weight is going down. Guest guest
HI SHEILA Their response was wrong in the mentioning of calcium, and they apologised as they should have said IRON not Calcium. You have a point Sheila about asking them for all the ingrediants as they state that they are vegetable capsules and suitable for vegans. I have since enquired with my surgery, and have just received a call to say to stop taking the IRON which I have already done, and the iron is a large bottle of 180 capsules. I am beginning to wonder if SALICYLATES might be a problem as they in turn can block calcium and affect the thyroid, but I have an appointment to see my GP on Monday, and hopefully the rash will have gone.
