Hi, my name is Debbie and I'm a newbie here.I have been underactive for 12 years and now have haemochromotosis to boot! Can anyone suggest a healthy-living diet to help combat the effects I'm suffering with?

It's the usual stuff: fatigue, insomnia, depression - generally feeling run down.I will be writing to Dr. Peatfield to be on the waiting list for a consultation but I understand that list is pretty long. Any advice in the meantime will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Debbie

Welcome to the forum!

Please can you advise what your diet is currently like?

What are you taking at the moment?

Chris

Hi sorry its been a long time answering, in new to the site and i wasnt

sure how to pick up messages etc... Im a bit of a PC Spaz!! Im currently taking

100mcg Levothyroxine per day, and my diet is very varied - breakfast = granola

with goats milk. lunch = fruit pack and yoghurt Tea = everything you can think

of from sausage n mash to chilli n rice, plenty of salads, spag bolli or chicken

n chips or beans on toast or chicken curries. Sundays are usually a beef roast

dinner and i know im supposed to cut back on red meat and alcohol, which i have

tried to do, althjough prob have too many coffee and Teas a day, but i do ensure

i drink apprx a litre of water a day too

Hope this is enough info - am going for a thyroid blood test next weds. Look

forward to your reply on this and you can let me know where im going wrong

Cheers Debbie
