I use free file viewer, should just be able to find it in google.

Use openoffice -it's free

At the moment I save them and then open with wordpad. However when doing this

the text has lots of symbols top and bottom and if there are studies/references

etc in the text symbols can also be dotted in the middle making it a bit

difficult to read and print out (I am hoping to print out some things for my

GP).

There's also LibreOffice, another free alternative. I don't have MS Office

either and use NeoOffice (Mac version of OpenOffice) and LibreOffice, which I

prefer, NeoOffice having become a bit glitchy for me.

Hi , i use adobe reader 9 or if you use firefox browser then an addon called foxit reader will do. Angel.
