Guest guest
Hello Pippa What a dramatic result. Your latest free T4 is a bit on the low side. For anybody not taking thyroid hormone replacement, fT4 should be just above the middle of the reference range, which means that yours should really be somewhere in the region of 18/19. Your free T3 is also sliding towards the low end of the range, (think the number of the bottom of the range could be wrong though). T3 should be in the upper third of the reference range. The main thing is, keep an eye on your symptoms and signs - and let us know the results of your most next tests. Also, can you ask your GP to test your level of TPO and Tg antibodies? Ask also if he would test your level of iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. If any of these are low in the range, thyroid hormone cannot be fully utilised at the cellular level. Post the results together with the reference range when you get them back on here. Are you sure that you didn't eat or drink something different over Christmas that might have caused the itchy rash? Luv - Sheila My most recent blood test was December 2011 and my results were: TSH 0.01 T4 13.4 (9.0 - 28.0) T3 4.0 0.0 - 7.7) Does my last blood result seem low? I am still having symptoms and during Christmas I came out in an itchy rash (hives) which lasted for about a week. I do wonder if I am going underactive so I am going for another blood test the end of this week.
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thank you for your advice. The day after I sent you the message I actually started to feel much better than I have for a long time and when I washed my hair I only lost about 30 strands instead of over a 100 as per usual. I am wondering if I am starting to recover after having high levels for so long. Someone on another site told me it would take about 3 months with my levels within the normal range for my hair to stop falling out and for other symptoms to disappear so fingers crossed I hope this is starting to happen. I went for my blood test yesterday so it will be interesting to see what my levels are now. I am having difficulty getting my hospital to give me all my blood results and last time my Doctor would only let me copy them from his screen when I really wanted a print out of all of them. Any suggestions how I can get them? I have tried talking to his secretary on the phone in the past who told me my GP had them which wasn't true so I sent her an email requesting them and received a letter 2 weeks later with just my TSH T4 and T3. I really wanted a print out of all the results which include a full blood count and vitamin D3 because my D3 was 6 before being diagnosed and treated with calciferol. When I asked about these at my last appointment he just told me they were within range which I find hard to believe after being told there was nothing wrong with my thyroid for several years when infact I had graves.
