Guest guest
Scream away Lu, and let out all your frustration on this forum. However, I would not wait until you have seen the consultant before starting the B12 injections. You need these as A MATTER OF URGENCY - really, these are vital. Once you start the injections, you will start to feel so very much better, almost miraculously, so don't put this off and if you can still get to the surgery today, then do so. I cannot impress on you enough just how very important this is. Also, have you been tested to see where your cortisol and DHEA levels lie at four specific times during the day. This is very important as you could be suffering with low adrenal reserve, and if you are, this needs to be treated too. The wretching, shaking and other symptoms could well be pointing to this. You can get the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile done through Genova Diagnostics. Go to our Files Section thyroid treatment/Files/ and scroll down the alphabetical FOLDERS there until you come to the one entitled 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and open the Genova Diagnostics document. Follow the instructions for ordering the test and tell them Thyroid Patient Advocacy is your practitioner. They will send you the kit out which comprises four little test tubes with four straws. You put the straw in the test tube and you spit down it at 8.00a.m. - 4.00p.m. 12 Noon and again at midnight and then you send all four samples back. Genova will send the results to you in around 10 days. When you receive them, post them on the forum and we will help with their interpretation. Meanwhile, get to the Surgery and start those B12 injections immediately. When the results come back from the lab. post the numbers here on the forum together with the reference range. GP's should remember that they are not specialists in any particular subject and if their patient is continuing to suffer symptoms no matter what they try to do, that is the time to hand their patient over to a specialist. Your GP and nurses might not have been happy in you asking for a referral, but this is your health, not theirs, and you can guarantee that once the surgery door closes behind you, they just get on with the next patient and forget about being upset with you. Luv - Sheila So, to the point of my rant. After a horrible week and a horrible day, I phoned the GPs to confirm that they will give me a copy of my test results tomorrow. I am waiting to see if I get my referral letter, they didn't like that I asked at all, I feel another argument coming on. They said that the nurse wanted to speak to me about my blood tests and it seems that my B12 level is low enough to warrant weekly injections for an undisclosed period of time. I'm not surprised, my B12 level officially fell out of the normal range this time last year, but as it was only by a couple of points the GP told me that I was depressive and looking for things wrong with me, it was then that she referred me to the therapist! I've been taking B12 since, obviously not enough. They wanted me to go in tomorrow. I said no, I want to see the consultant first. The nurse got really huffy with me. I just want to scream!
