Guest guest
Hello all I need to get more detail on my iron problem and am trying to find out how I can get the complete iron panel done privately in the UK (serum iron, tibc, transferrin saturation% as well as the standard ferritin). I can't seem to find a lab that does it. Anyone had it done privately please who can help? Thanks Susie
Guest guest
Why is the NHS denying you these tests Susie. These can all be done by your GP. You should not be put into a position where you are having to pay for such tests privately. Guest guest
I have the same problem, I had specifically written on my blood request form each individual iron test and the lab then decides as my ferritin is in range they won't test the rest! bloody budget, I was furious, it took alot to get that blood test and I wasn't about to go arguing with the GP again. I'm getting this multi test panel here: http://www.bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/shop/page/14?sessid=99FpbdQkUmBq4lXYIK9kLCt\ RC1tNcFkKXqWsmAhJiqTN5HgeWsmqdm8ZcXBrNe7D & shop_param= It's £57, has a lot of other tests in it which may or may not be useful to you, but I have found this is the cheapest price. It doesn't include ferritin though, the serum iron TIBC and sat% is more important anyway. As you can see the iron profile on its own is more expensive: http://www.bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/shop/article_177/Iron-Status-Profile.html?s\ hop_param=cid%3D25%26aid%3D177%26 Hope this helps. Guest guest
You can get the ferritin tested at that laboratory, and you can actually get it tested for free - see http://www.bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/shop/page/6?shop_param= I am going to write to them and see if they will be happy to give TPA members a discount on the thyroid/minerals/vitamin tests that they need. Watch this space. Guest guest
I don't see why they wouldn't, I think they already do a discount with Thyroid UK (??) as I think that's how I found them (can't remember which website), look forward to their reply. > > > I am going to write to them and see if they will be happy to give TPA > members a discount on the thyroid/minerals/vitamin tests that they need. > Watch this space. > > Luv - Sheila > > >
Guest guest
Thanks so much Sandie. Sounds just like the lab in my area too. I don't have the energy to fight anymore - just want to get things done. Sheila, would it be ok to have this info in one of the files please in case anyone else wants to order the iron panel privately? Guest guest
Hi Susie I wrote to Blue Horizon yesterday and heard back from the laboratory that they are happy for TPA members to get discounts on testing and will be setting up some reference codes for ordering. We are to have a telephone discussion some time next week, so once this has been done and all is in order, I will then be adding them to our list in the folder entitled 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' in our FILES SECTION. Guest guest
That's great news Sheila, if that includes Aldosterone testing I'll wait till the discount is in place before ordering again. Come to think of it discount on sex hormone profile would be good too. > >We are to have a telephone > discussion some time next week, so once this has been done and all is in > order, I will then be adding them to our list in the folder entitled > 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' in our FILES SECTION. > > Luv - Sheila > > > >

I think Lab21 may be able to do them but as Sheila says your GP ought to do them Nick
Guest guest
Lab21 was my lab of choice as they were so reasonably priced but I was gutted when last year they informed me due to decreasing demand and increasing costs they were stopping all blood tests and concentrating on their allergy testing. So they are now no longer an option unfortunately, bye bye £17 T3 testing > > > I think Lab21 may be able to do them but as Sheila says your GP ought > to do them > > Nick >
