Hello ,

I have never heard of any bad side effects to Vit B, but perhaps you react to the fillers in the tablets you are taking?

A lack of Vit B can affect us badly and most of us hypos are in dire need of B Vitamins – a lack of them can cause nerve transmission issues and the brain cannot function properly and the risk of developing heart diseases would increase….

I tried to google any know side effects to B vitamins, but could only find positive info - like

http://www.raysahelian.com/vitaminb.html

Vitamin B supplements are the cheapest, safest, and most reliable way to improve your wellbeing and overall mental abilities. I recommend Vitamin B complex to those who wish to improve their mood, mental clarity, and energy. The effects of the vitamin B are subtle, especially in the young who normally have adequate dietary intake of these nutrients. Improvements in cognitive functions from vitamin B are particularly noticeable in middle age individuals and the elderly. These vitamins are mostly absorbed through the small intestine.

Perhaps you could try a different make? I find Lamberts Vitamin B-50 Complex very good.

with best wishes,

You could be an over methylator - people who are over methylators react very

badly to high dose B vitamins (well, some b vitamins more than others). it's an

awful feeling. most people know nothing about it.

It's a concept from orthoomolecular psychiatry. I have mentioned it on this

board several times now. It does in fact concern me that no one seems to know

that some people have down sides to taking high dose B vitamins, and never

advocate caution over this.

Please if you get such bad reactions do not take them! Do not listen to anyone

who says it's all in your mind.

I've had similar symptoms, and I know how bad they can be. I felt dreadful for

two days after a supposed nutritionist who knew about methylation gave me very

high dose vitamins. You have my sympathies!

Hi there

Probably too much of one of the Vitamin B’s

within the complex - over stimulating the kidneys/adrenals.

When deficient in B’s one can get depressed and

tearful – when you take it for a long time you get reverse symptoms –

ie. The same deficiency symptoms will return when you have taken enough. Same

with thyroid hormone – hair can fall out with a deficiency and skin can

become dry but there again if you take too much thyroid hormone your skin can

become dry and your hair can fall out.

We are all individual in our body make up and balance

– so what you are being advised to take that others get along with may

not be for you – it is all trial and error or better still have vit and

mineral blood tests and take what you are deficient in rather than overloading

your kidneys and liver with supplements that you may not need – your body

I saying it doesn’t want what you are taking for one reason or another.

Hope this helps

Best wishes

Mandy

Hi all

Thanks for all your responses.

It's nit just b complex this has happened with I've had severe reactions to the

contraceptive pill, Prozac, iron and d3. Try have all made me feel worse can

this happen. I am already on b12 shots and seem to handle them ok but thatsnthe

only thing I can tolerate . In recently had a sever reaction to hair dye that

has never happened to me before and my scalp and face burnt.

I am looking for something to help balance me out and lift m mood but I am at a

loss what to do

Hi

Vit B6 should be restricted to before about 12.01pm midday and

especially if you take larger amounts ~ as occurs in some of the heavy

dose B vit tabs.

any vit B6 taken after about 4.00pm could give you vivid nightmares...

see if this is the case, perhaps?

ie check that using the 'right' regime, you get no nightmares.

best wishes

Hi Chris

I have been looking up on over methylator and it's interested me as I've had a

lot of reactions and allergies. Would I have to be tested for copper to see if I

was over methylator? I had the full vitamin and mineral test done but I never

got the copper result I can chase that tomorrow

Thanks everyone for all your replies all your advice really helps

Hi

My practitioner suggested for mood lift

L-Theanine/Lamberts (not expensive - google 'benefits of L-Theanine' - some

interesting articles. It deffo works for me. Also Omega Brite, is one of the

purest, from USA again google it - states 'for mood'

I also take B50, and am interested by others comments, especially about effects

of too much being same as too little.

Overall, the above have helped me a lot especially when my adrenals were very

depleted. The change in mood for me was very quick.

Hi

I believe 'histamine' gives an indication of someone's methylation status. I

don't think it is copper (though copper can have effects on us)

I had a blood test for histamine and it was low (as it would be in an over

methylator) which kind of confirms that i may be an over methylator.

Hi Chris

I'm not to sure il be able to get tested for that is its quiet a battle getting

the full minerals yet done, even bough it would make sense as I've been having

sever reactions to hair dye. As you are an over methylation is here any vitamins

you can take that you dobt have a reaction to or take anything in spacific that

may help.

It would explain why I felt so awful when I tried Prozac as that increases

serotonin, I am now looking into an alternative antidepressants that may be able

to help me.

Hi

I had to have the test done privately with genova diagnostics

i don't think prozac's a good drug

for me, getting adrenal and thyroid and testosterone has helped depression
