Hello Everyone

ive been overactive since july 2011 ,my levels have been coming down ,heres a

few examples of my results,

july 2011 T4 56 , T3 16 TSH undetecable ,

oct 2011 T4 11.3 T3 3.3 TSH undetectable

nov 2011 T4 13.01 T3 3.7 TSH 0.69

feb 2012 T4 12.8 T3 4.6 TSH .22

i was started on 20mgs of carbimazole in july 2011

im now on 5 mgs every other day

im concerned and confused as to why my t4 and t3 levels would be coming down

still and tsh going down as well. if im going hyper shouldnt my tsh be going up?

i lost of wieght last year when i was hyper but now i cant stop eating and

gaining wieght and by dinner time every day im tired.

any advise please,

thanks Debbie

I would talk to your GP about this Debbie as it does look as if

you are becoming hypothyroid and perhaps you need to stop the Carbimazole

altogether, especially if you are beginning to feel the symptoms and showing

any signs of hypothyroidism. Your TSH remains suppressed when you are suffering

with hyperthyroidism because the pituitary recognises there is sufficient

thyroid hormone in the blood, so it doesn't have to prompt the thyroid into secreting

any more thyroid hormone as it does when somebody is severely hypothyroid. When

you are hyperthyroid, the TSH is suppressed and there are high levels of free

T4 and free T3 in the blood. When you are hypothyroid, the TSH is raised, and

the fT4 and fT3 are low ion the range.
