Oh what a brilliant idea to do this, well done. Reading through them so far I've

heard them all!

My own personal nugget is when I saw a doctor and was in tears due to my swollen

hands and fingers.

She said to me " well, I'd stop wearing those rings and that nail polish if I

were you "

I could write a book on the things I've been told including when desperate, ill

and being told there was nothing wrong " what makes you think you're so special

you've got an illness we can't find "

This is a great idea and I've found the stories horrifying and heartwarming but,

above all, an indictment of our medical profession.

I've literally just started to write my 'story' (

found particularly helpful. If you think it would be of any use, I could shorten

it to put on here..?

Some Idiotic statements to go on with:

Me: I'm SO constipated and horrendously bloated

Dr: eat more fibre

Me: I can't eat any more if I tried and I think that it actually makes it worse

[NB it did, I discovered later gluten intolerance/carb digestion problem]

Dr: eat more fibre

Me: I've been permanently nauseous for the past two months and I seem to be

reacting to more and more foods

Dr: well, avoid them then
