Guest guest
Hi there I would see Dr Skinner; i saw 2 endos in the west midlands, neither were helpful -unless you have black and white issues, i doubt they would be much help -just my experience. one was very rude. chris > > Can anybody recommend a good private endocrinologist who specialises in thryoid disease in the West Midlands? Guest guest
I have sent the list of recommended doctors to you Pippa, but these doctors are those who will treat using synthetic T4 and T3 combination, T3 alone or natural thyroid extract, so assuming they know a little more about thyroid disease than the usual endocrinologists who refuse to treat their patients with anything other than the mainly inactive thyroid hormone Thyroxine (T4). Your endocrinologist (or any other doctor) actually is not allowed to withhold any of the information that is in your medical notes from you Pippa. You have a legal right to see any of the information under the Data protection Act 1998. See - http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/1309.aspx?categoryid=68 & subcategoryid=160 Send a polite letter to the endocrinologist letting him know that under the Data Protection Act 1998i, you are entitled to any of the information in your medical records and ask him to therefore send you the results of all the last blood tests together with the reference range for each of the tests done. Ask for these to be sent to you by 21st February 2012. These doctors must think we don't have any brain cells in our head. We have to learn to be assertive and let them know that we actually believe, it is the other way round. As soon as you get these results, post them on the forum together with the ref. range and we will help with their interpretation. What were your thyroid function test results? Luv - Sheila I started to lose faith in mine when he asked if I wanted to see a counsellor at my last appointment because I told him I was still feeling unwell. He also refuses to give me a print out of all my blood results because all I need to know is that they are within the normal ranges. I did manage to get his secretary to give me my thyroid levels last week but she wouldn't give me my results of my DHEA, calcium, vitamin D and other hormone levels that were tested at the same time. I will now have to wait until my next appointment which isn't until the end of April when he might let me have a quick look at his computer screen if I'm lucky. :/ No virus found in this message.
