Guest guest
Could anyone tell me if they have a severe tightness in neck & jaw muscles? Iknow these symptoms would probably be dismissed as stress by most doctors but they are with me whether I am stressed or not. Just wondered if it could be related to the levo 125mcgs I have to take or to the thyroid problem itself. Tightness in the throat is a recognized symptom of Hypothyroidism, but whether or not this is your particular problem is impossible to say; at a guess I would contribute it to your thyroid problem rather than the Levo, but do let your doctor know about it and see what he or she makes of it. There might be a physical problem with a section of your cervical spine. With best wishes,
Guest guest
hi there Your not on your own with this symptom. I don't have it in my jaw but I sometimes have a tight strained feeling in my neck which lasts for at least 30 minutes which comes and goes. I also think it is a symptom of being hypothyroid as it tends to happen to me when my thyroid levels are on the low side. Since increasing my t3 the tightness in my neck has gone. > > Could anyone tell me if they have a severe tightness in neck & jaw muscles? I'll mention it to my GP - thanks again!

Guest guest
Hi there, It could be that you are either on too high a dose of thyroid meds or it is not being transported efficiently or you need more of one or the other T3 or T4. Pain down jaw can be heart related – although don’t panic – it could be that the heart is being asked to speed up due to the thyroid meds but that you need other things to make sure you can take it ie. Magnesium etc. Hope this makes sense. Take a look at this Thyroid disease fact sheet | womenshealth.gov www.womenshealth.gov › Publications › Our publications 14 Jan 2010 – Symptoms are the same as in postpartum and silent thyroiditis, but the inflammation in the thyroid leads to pain in the neck, jaw, or ear. http://www.womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/thyroid-disease.cfm Best wishes Mandy
