Guest guest
Hi there.... have you had your iron levels checked? As a symptom of hypothyroidism, hair loss can often be caused by low iron. With regard to the itching, maybe it's a reaction to the chemicals in your shampoo/conditioner. A lot of products contain sodium laureth sulphate, a strong chemical which can strip the skin/scalp of its natural oils. Maybe you could try an organic shampoo, or one containing tea tree oil which has excellent anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Rosemary is also good for the scalp. (Try a couple of drops of essential oil in your rinsing water.) Another likely cause could be candida, which can cause a whole host of symptoms. Hope this helps. I have suffered with an itchy scalp with hair loss for the last 18 months but this is much more unbearably.
Guest guest
Hi, I've had this and so far the only way i've found to relieve it is to wash my hair less and use a better shampoo. I've been using T-gel shampoo along with L'occitane soothing shampoo and conditioner. It hasn't completely gotten rid of the problem, but it's helped. I also take antihistamines to deal with the itch. > > Over the last 2 nights my scalp has been extremely itchy and its keeping me awake at night. The only change I can think of is that I started to take evening primrose oil a few days ago because it was recommended to me for thyroid hair loss. > > Has anyone else suffered something similar? >
Guest guest
Hi there, your burning hair scalp symptoms sounds very much like the homeopathic remedy 'sulphur'. I have had patients with this and as long as your symptoms match the 'sulphur' picture which is what you describe you can try sulphur 30c....it is also a homeopathic remedy for hair loss too....it seems you may benefit from this remedy.
