You really should follow the weight routine as outlined in the book. Are you

planning on working out at home or do you have gym access? About milk, he

doesn't highly recommend it. it counts as both a protein and a carb.

Benner wrote: I don't have the BFL book

yet, and I'm planning on ordering it later

tonight from the site that was mentioned under the FAQ's of this

board. Until my book comes, I have a few questions that I'd love to

have answered so I can try to start BFL right away.

1) How many cups of skim milk a day are okay on this plan?

2) I have a strength training DVD that I really like. It is designed

to work the different muscle groups on alternate days. So, would it

be okay on this plan to use workout 1 of this on let's say Mondays and

Wednesdays and workout 2 of this on Tuesday and Fridays?

If someone would let me know, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I live only 10 miles from her, but didn't get to see her. I needed to get my T3

and T4 done, so she organised that, plus she sent me a questionnaire which I

made a table for and typed out a load of info as requested. The reply I got back

was the T3 and T4 results plus 3 pages of informative knowledge.

If she can learn so much about a person from my test results and a

questionnaire, without seeing me, why can't our doctors who actually see us do

the same?

Hi

I just had some blood levels given me by the Dr...

18th aug 2010.... FT4 24.0 TSH 0.01

26th sep 2011.... FT4 15.1 TSH 5.09

1st dec 2011.... FT4 14.5 TSH 13.27

25th jan 2012.... FT4 15.6 TSH 14.91

In Aug of last year the cancer hospital thyroid specialist said that they would

like to lower my dose of thyroxin to see if it helped with my problems i was

having from a possible too high strenght meds...

they dropped from 225 mcg to 175mcg between aug 2010 and sept 2011 and then from

175mcg to 125 mcg between sept 2011 and nov 2011 and now i'm alternating doses

between 125mcg one day and 150 mcg the next..

i have booked an appt to see dr myhill as mentioned in my earl;ier posts.. i

was just curious to leave these for anyone to read and offer any advise... Is

it no surprise i'm feeling rubbish with tsh levels like this..?? i don't know

a huge amount, i don't know what feeling good is like anymore really eaither and

i know little about where my levels should ideally be... only what velindre

hospital has told me and that was until last year, they wanted to supress my tsh

levels and then all of a sudden, don't worry, we want to raise them now so lets

play with your dose.. i've been hyper for years, then i went to hypo very

fast... dr said i should be feeling ok, velindre hospital said all is ok....

I'm saying i feel like shit and have had to quit my full time job. i am now on

the sick and have my appt booked for mid march... i just bought the book stop

the thyroid madness and i am learning....

Crikey ked - what have they been doing to you ??!!!! There was nothing wrong with a TSH of 0.01 back in Aug 2010 and your FT4 didn't look alarming either. If you have had thyroid cancer and thyroidectomy by any chance, a suppressed TSH is actually desired. But I see no reason why you should have a higher TSH with or without any kind of cancer. The only justification for lowering the thyroid dose is if the FT4 and FT3 were exceeding their respective ref ranges... you haven't posted the ref ranges, but FT4's of 14-15 in a medicated patient are too low by any stretch of the imagination.

Whatever your previous problems were/are, lowering the dose has now made you severely hypothyroid. Go and see Dr. Myhill ASAP. She will sort you out. You most certainly need more (or different) thyroid hormone, but it is possible that you have underlying issues, like low iron or are low in other minerals or vitamins, or you could have conversion problems or adrenal problems, or dietary issues etc. – I don't know what has made you so severely hypothyroid now, but lowering your dose wasn't helping. But don't worry, Dr. Myhill will get to the bottom of whatever it is.

All the best,

Hi

I have always been given brillant advice on here and I am so grateful for that and appreciate the time taken to reply.

Sorry to bother you all again but I need abit more advice if that's ok,,, I am feeling really unwell today I have a horrible pressure like pain on my chest and I keep feeling dizzy and just don't feel right. I have been diagnosed by my gp as overactive according to test results and I am waiting to see an endo,, is this normal what I am feeling or should I be worried,, I have no idea about thyroid its all very new to me and quite frightening,,, i have been seeing my gp regarding feeling unwell for two years and he said it was depression and anxiety until he done a thyroid blood test last Nov have had three done since then,, the last one he said he would refer me cos of the symptons I was experiencing and test results.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Easha - can you let us know exactly what your last thyroid

function test results showed together with the reference range for each test

done. This will give us a bit better idea of what might be happening. Have you

been tested to see whether you have antibodies to your thyroid?

If you are not feeling better by now,

telephone NHS Direct and speak to somebody there who will be in a better place

to advise you. Don't allow such feelings to go on without getting further

medical advice. Their number is Dial 0845 4647

Easha,,,,

Whaaaat???? your doctor wanted to give you carbimazole?? with those

results????

That is sheer stupidity. It's the equivalent of a sledge hamme to crack a nut.

You were saved by the fact that he was told to refer you.... I am shocked that

he could have thought you were hyper, just because the tsh has dropped..... the

free t4 and free t3 are well within range.

You really will have to read up and start to understand this, if only to protect

yourself from idiots like the doctor you saw.

Dr Peatfields book is a good place to start..... it's called, Your Thyroid and

how to keep it healthy'

Post any results you get on here and don't agree to anything unless it has been

explained to you and you understand why you are being given it. If you don't

understand, ask on here.

We're always happy to help if we can....
