Guest guest
Hi I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the test results I have just had back please. I am not on any medication at the moment gp said it was overactive and because of symptons not getting any better after nearly two years, he said he would try and get hold of a junior registrar at hospital to see if he can give me carbizamole. I do not understand any of this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Serum free trilodothyronine level 5.7 pmol/l range (3.61-6.8 U) Serum free T4 Level 15.7 pmol/l range (12.0-22.O U) Serum TSH Level 0.060 mu/l range (0.27-4.2 U) Thyroid peroxidase antibody level <20 IU/ml Range (<100 U) Many thanks for reading. Guest guest
Hello Easha How long have you been with this doctor?? You need to run a mile away from him, because with recommendations like he is giving you, he will only cause you worsening health. Your free T3 level is in the upper third of the reference range which is where it is supposed to be. It is not outside the upper level. Your free T4 is also OK. If you were hyperthyroid and in need of Carbizamole, both your free T4 and free T3 would be well above the top of their respective reference ranges. A GP should NOT decide that you are suffering with hyperthyroidism just by looking at your TSH only - and why refer you to a junior registrar and not to an endocrinologist? What symptoms are you experiencing and what signs are you showing. Check yours against those in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk under 'Hypothyroidism' in the Menu. Also, check out the symptoms and signs under 'Hyperthyroidism' and see which one you feel you belong to.
