Blood draw

I live in Corpus Christi, TX and I traveled to San to TCART

(Texas Center for Autism Research and Treatment) to get my son's

bloodwork drawn. They did a great job! They are well aware of the

steps needed to send to the specimen properly and we also went

through Metamatrix for labwork. They charge $20.00 for the labdraw

and sending the vials. I got stomach pains thinking about the

troubles I would encounter having it drawn at a small laboratory,

such as having enough staff to restrain my son - He's tough!

Through TCART it was painless, literally. He cried when he was

papoosed for about 1 minute and didn't feel the needle stick or cry

after that. I took them about about 5 minutes to get 10 vials worth

of blood (about 2-3 mls each). Good luck! -

Hi,

I seem to have hit a brick wall. I have ordered test kits fro Genova, but my

surgery won't draw the blood for a private test and my local hospital won't do

it. I have tried a couple of medical centres and they sound horrified.....as if

I am doing something illegal.

Any suggestions please? No wonder we resort to self treatment in this country!!!

Sue,

I've had blood drawn at the Dorchester Hospital for private tests... It cost

£15 and I've had it drawn at the Winterbourne private Hospital in

Dorchester.... also £15 and the service was much better plus free car

parking....

Hi ,

I tried the Nuffield in Taunton, and they would only do their own private test,

but said they must send results via GP.

I have managed to get Weston Hospital to do it for me with a £10 collection fee.

They did however state that it is not something that they normally do.

I think a list would be a great idea and extremely helpful.

Thanks

Sue

Does Weston mean Weston-super-Mare?

Hi

Yes, I did mean Weston-super-Mare general hospital. I have just had my blood

drawn and it cost £10.

It seems it is best to ring before you go and speak to Nicola, who seems to be

the only person who was aware that this can be done.

In general though, avoid Tuesday and Wednesday as they have a big clinic on. I

got there at 08.30 and was seen first at 9am.

I am also doing my adrenal test today and have had my Westhroid arrive, so will

give it a go.

I wish I could however, find out if Thiroyd has an aluminium content, as it is

about the best value I have found. Does anyone know the anser to this please?

Thanks for all that info. I have a friend in Portishead and this might be here

nearest hospital. It will be very useful to have this list drawn up.
