Guest guest
Yes, it went well, the GMC concluded that they did not have enough 'evidence' to go any further regarding the cases of the 5 complaints received. All the 5 patients whose GPs forwarded their details to complaint about Dr Skinner have complained that the GPs did so against their wishes and without asking their permission and that they were perfectly happy with DR Skinner's care/treatment. Dr Skinner was 'released' with no restrictions to his practice, he can go on to work as before, but GMC said they will still look into the complaints... (?) so yes, Dr Skinner is back at work. > > Hi all > does anyone know how it went for Dr Skinner today? > > Sian >

Guest guest
Fantastic news thanks for posting – I sent a letter in support of Dr S and then asked them to look into the motives of the 5 GP’s in question – it might be that they are going to actually do that !!! We can only hope ! Mandy
Guest guest
This is all hugely depressing. If a doctor can't treat with thyroxine when someone has numbers that are within range then what is the chance that they'll ever begin to treat with T4/T3, natural thyroid or god forbid T3? This country is so retrograde. I don't know what it is going to take to change it. When Dr. Skinner and Dr. P eventually retire of their own accord it doesn't bode well as we'll have even fewer people to go to. > > Youre behind the times Sian, he received another letter today to appear
Guest guest
I suspect that, under their constitution, the GMC have no choice but to tell Dr S there has been another complaint. However, it is within their powers to dismiss the new, and any future, complaint on the same ground as being vexatious and this is what they ought to do otherwise they stand accused of participating in a campaign against Dr S. I would have thought it possible to drum up some interest from the newspapers over this campaign especially if the GMC is seen not to be playing fair. TC > > Youre behind the times Sian, he received another letter today to appear > before them as another doctor has now complained that he is treating > patients with thyroxin who are within the normal range. Guest guest
It does seem to be developing into a 'news worthy' story. Dr Skinner could be heading for a world record in being falsely accused of malpractice...Lynne
Guest guest
This is an extract from the GMCs website about complaints handling, so it seems as if they are able to dismiss complaints without holding a hearing. " We will always consider carefully any concerns regarding a doctor that is are (sic) brought to our attention. ....... If we decide to investigate concerns further, ......... " also " What will happen if you refer a doctor to us? ......... If we decide to act on your concerns " The person in charge seems now to be a proper actual Judge (and not a medic), so you'd hope he puts paid to this harassment pdq. English law does rather rely on not going over the same ground, ie case law. __________ If you look at http://www.gmc-uk.org/calendar/ Out of all the doctors up before the panel in Feb, it seems that Skinner was the only one to face an Interim Orders Panel (dark blue colour), but then if you look elsewhere then lots of people did. I can't say I know what that signifies. Perhaps they just want to worry us? S > > I suspect that, under their constitution, the GMC have no choice but to tell Dr S there has been another complaint. Guest guest
Hi Sheila Be sure to mention that we are now labelled as Skinnerettes by the GMC! Guest guest
Agreed, females - Skinnerettes - males - Skinnerites??? Can't they get anything right??? But yes, I will mention this to the Reporter who is interested in this story. Luv - Sheila If the GMC are going to be insulting, I demand the right to equal opportunity in being insulted. More public money must be spent on researching and testing an acceptable name for the male supporters of Dr S. > lol > Â >

Guest guest
Dear Sheila and All, Whether we are Skinnerettes or Skinnerites really does not matter so much as the recognition that large, overwhelming numbers of patients came to Dr. Skinner's defense. It is quite difficult to argue with large numbers of testimonials. In essence, patient counterexamples trumped the trumped up charges. Apparently, the GMC has taken notice of the TPA's ability to bring people power forth. Have a great day,
