Guest guest
Hello,I would be really grateful if someone would help me understand recent some blood tests that I have just had.Free T3 4.91 pmol/L ref range [2.63-5.70]Free T4 14.38 pmol/L ref range [9.01-19.05]TSH level Lo <0.01 mIU/L [0.35-4.94]I currently take 4 grains of Erfa Thyroid and support my adrenals with 15mg Cortef daily.I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease about 11 years ago and have been trying to get well ever since. This site has been a godsend,it has helped me take control of my health although I still have to do battle with NHS!I think my results are ok although I'm not sure if my FT4 needs to be a little higher.I am better than I have ever been, diagnosed with M.E. 24 years ago, but still feel I have a way to go.My day to day life is still limited by fatigue and other Hypo Symptoms.Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated,my brain still struggles with numbers!Kind regards,Ginny
Guest guest
I think you may have meant to post this message to the forum Ginny - so passing it on for you,. Luv - Sheila Hi Sheila, Thanks for your prompt reply. I am getting some blood tests done via G.P. namely Ferritin and B12.I will ask for the other ones you suggest.I do seem to have a low Ferritin problem,at one point my result was 5.I take Ferrous Fumerate 210mg x 2 daily and did manage to get my reading up to 50.My then G.P. of coarse stopped it saying I was in range.I have now changed my G.P. and expalained that it needs to be between 70 and 90 for thyroid hormones to work.I do not know why my Ferritin levels keep falling as soon as I stop the iron.I try to eat a healthy diet with iron rich foods but seemingly to no avail. I am tackling my Candida with 200mg Fluconazole, which I have purchased myself as G.P.'S are only prepared to prescribe Nystatin which is not strong enough.I am sure I have a fungal infection as I get terrible uncontrollable sweet cravings and often get fungal skin rashes. It has taken me about two and a half years to treat my adrenals which were in a pretty poor state and then gradually reintroduce NDT.At one point I was on 40mg Cortef but have managed to gradually reduce to 15mg,I get puffy and hot if I take any more than this now.The same with my Erfa, feel worse if I increase by half a grain or 25mcg T4. I had not taken my medication on day of blood test so its pretty accurate.I think as you say I have been ill for a very long time and it is going to take some time to recover,I have only been on present regime for about 2 months and I understand it can take from anything up to a year to feel the benefits.I do suffer with terrible insomnia which I don't think helps because I'm never really getting enough quality sleep to recover but hopefully this will improve with time. I am in the process of trying to get my Erfa from my PCT on a named patient basis with the support of my G.P. so will let you know how that goes. The forum is a life saver,I do not know where I would be without it,probably half dead! I will take your other points on board and continue to forge ahead. I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work on the forum,it is literally a life saver. Kind regards, Ginny
