Guest guest
Instead of putting p with a useless GP, find a GP that isn't useless. You don't have to stick with the one you started with if he is no good. If there is nobody else at your surgery, contact your local Primary Care rust and tell them you have no faith in the doctors at your present practice and that you would like another doctor in another surgery and they will find you one. 1. Are there doctors who I can see who will prescribe for someone who is within the " normal range " (just) without a referral from a GP? My GP is useless and I'm too ill to deal with changing him at the moment! Yes, good doctors recognise that thyroid function test results on their own are useless and will take into account your symptoms, signs, family history, background and the results of a thorough clinical examination. Either NHS or Private. Both - I have sent you a list of recommended doctors - but these are doctors who will prescribe using T4 and T3, in combination or alone, or natural thyroid extract. 2. Who are the best private doctors - I know about Dr Skinner, but not sure if he's seeing people or not - and I think he needs GP referral. Dr Skinner now demands GP referral but yes, he is seeing people. 3. Can you buy natural throid without a prescription, and if so, where? Yes. Check our FILES SECTION of this forum. Go to the Home Page, click on FILES in the Menu. Scroll down the list to 'INTERNET PHARMACIES' and you will see the list of reputable Internet Pharmacies where you can buy NDT without the need of a prescription. Learn how to use the FILES section, this is a very valuable resource. 4. What is the lowest dose you can get? Is it in tablet or capsule form? If tablet, can you cut in half to get smaller dose? It is in tablet form and the lowest dose you can get is 30mgs (half a grain). 5. Does natural thyroid (Erfa etc) contain T4 and T3? At what ratio? All natural thyroid extract contains T4, T3, T2, T1 plus calcitonin. Check out the information in the 'All Natural Thyroid Extract' FOLDER. You will find the information you need in there. 6. Has anyone here attempted to treat themselves without a doctor, or is that too risky? Most have. Most have had no option but to do this themselves. Again, all the information you need to do this is in the FILES SECTION. In the 'All Natural Thyroid Extract' folder, there is one document entitled 'How to Treat Using Natural Thyroid Extract'. Check it out and all of the rest of the information there. Luv - Sheila
Guest guest
Hi Helen, we cannot advise until we no if you have been tested. borderline well their is no such thing. you are or you are not.! the tests are reference intervals not normal ones and the TSH is not a thyroid test. the best teats to ask for are Ft4,Ft3, and TPOab,also tgAB. get your dotor to do these and post the results so we can help you. Guest guest
hi there If you can advise roughly whereabouts you live, someone else may be able to recommend a good GP in that area... > 3. Can you buy natural throid without a prescription, and if so, where? www.inhousepharmacy.vu www.internationalpharmacy.com http://www.1drugstore-online.com/showprice.asp?name=thyroid & bysearch=ok & Go.x=0 & G\ o.y=0 > 4. What is the lowest dose you can get? Is it in tablet or capsule form? If tablet, can you cut in half to get smaller dose? 1/4 grain in Naturethroid/westhroid and I believe in Armour, too. 1/2 grain is the smallest amount you can get in Erfa. (1 grain = 60mg) They are tablets. Yes, you can cut them. With Erfa, you can let it dissolve under your tongue (some people prefer this way, others don't - it may help some people who have problems absorbing it via the intestines) Most people do well on Erfa, it's supposed to be as good as the old armour, but unfortunately you cannot get erfa without a prescription (that i know of). There is also the thyroid medications from Thailand (1drugstore link) - some people do very well on these. I think you can also take the Thai thyroid under the tongue, too. Naturethroid/westhroid have the same ingredients , some don't do so well on these because they reformulated the ingredients. Same as Armour - that used to be the best, but they changed the formula. > 5. Does natural thyroid (Erfa etc) contain T4 and T3? At what ratio? http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/2009/09/02/erfas-canadian-thyroid-details/ " Erfa's very friendly and helpful Medical Director, Henri Knafo, MD, states that they follow the USP (United States Pharmacopoeia) specifications. But I do see some slight differences. The USP specifications ratio for one grain that we are used to in the US is 38 mcg. T4 and 9 mcg T3, i.e 38/9. The above ratio is 35/8. Likewise, US patients are used to 2 grains of 120 mgs having 76 mcg of T4 and 18 mcg of T3, i.e. 76/18. In Erfa's medication of 125 mg, you will get a ratio of 73/17. I don't know if this will make much of a difference but want you to be aware as you work to adjust Erfa's desiccated thyroid to the treatment you were used " Any questions please ask chris
Guest guest
1. Are there doctors who I can see who will prescribe for someone who is within the " normal range " (just) without a referral from a GP? My GP is useless and I'm too ill to deal with changing him at the moment! Either NHS or Private. I have sent you privately a list of doctors who have been recommended. 2. Who are the best private doctors - I know about Dr Skinner, but not sure if he's seeing people or not - and I think he needs GP referral. Yes, he is seeing patients and yes, your GP needs to refer you to him. 3. Can you buy natural throid without a prescription, and if so, where? Yes. Go to our FILES SECTION http://health..group.thyroid treatment/files/ and scroll down to the FOLDER entitled 'INTERNET PHARMACIES' You will find a lot there. 4. What is the lowest dose you can get? Is it in tablet or capsule form? If tablet, can you cut in half to get smaller dose? Again, go to the above link to our FILES, and open the FOLDER 'All Natural Thyroid Extract. In the page that opens, scroll down to the one entitled 'How to Use Natural Thyroid Extract. Read it all to fully understand. 5. Does natural thyroid (Erfa etc) contain T4 and T3? At what ratio? Yes, all the different brands and generics of natural thyroid extract contain T4, T3, T2, T1 plus calcitonin. Erfa has a ratio of 38mcgs T4 and 9mcgs T3. 6. Has anyone here attempted to treat themselves without a doctor, or is that too risky? Many of us have done this. The majority of us have been forced into this situation because our doctors refuse to recognise that we have a problem with our thyroid if our results come back anywhere within the thyroid reference ranges. It is either going down the self treatment route, or putting up with continuing symptoms and ill health. If you follow the recommendations in THIS forum, you should not have any problems. For some of us, it is more risky sticking with our uneducated and often, uncaring doctor. I would not hesitate. I do know of one 'support' group who refuse to allow their members any discussion regarding self medication, which I personally believe is irresponsible and dangerous. If a patient has no other option left other than to self medicate, then s/he needs to have access to as much information and discussion about this as possible. This is the ONLY safe way to do it. You will find as much information that you need in our FILES SECTION and asking questions. You might want to see what our wonderful Dr Peatfield thinks about self medication and you can read about this on our web site http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/self_medication.php Luv - Sheila
