Guest guest
I have hashimotos disease and have had consistently raised bilirubin levels for a couple of years. My thyroid situation has never been adequately under control. I have a couple of questions: 1) my doctor has diagnosed gilbert's syndrome because of the raised bilirubin levels but neither of my parents have any indictation of the hereditary condition themselves on their medical records. could the high bilirubin levels be caused by my thyroid condition? 2). If it is possible for me to have gilbert's syndrome (as the result of my parents being carriers without ever having high bilirubin levels themselves), then would this go some way to explaining why I seem to have trouble converting T4 to T3? Is anyone aware of a link between gilbert's syndrome and thyroid issues? My doctor tells me that having gilbert's syndrome is of no consequence (mind you, given the way he has treated my thyroid problem, I'm somewhat skeptical!!!) Can anyone help with this, I would be most grateful.
