Introduction

Hello,

I'm a new member and thought I'd introduce myself. I am a mom of 5 (4

boys, ages 3, 11, 12, 15; and 1 girl age 2). We felt we HAD to

vaccinate with the first 3, then did some of the 3 yr olds and finally

let our instincts prevail. Since we have always homeschooled, it's not

a big issue like some who fight the schools.

We have found a lot of information AGAINST vaccinating over the years,

but always felt pressured by doctors and well-intentioned friends. When

our local school system ran a newspaper article about how immunized

school kids were put at risk by those not vaccinated, we started

researching all over again.

I was also motivated by a run in a friend had with the public school

system: when her almost teen son was going into the next grade, they

found he had not had one of a series of his baby shots and they insisted

that he needed to have it to enter school that year. My understanding

of vaccines (from animal science major at cornell u.) is that one will

usually begin working, a second is sometimes needed, but in an animal

that is not going through maternal anti-body interference, that is all

that is necessary. The huge number of a series...and the forcing of a

baby shot at age 12...it just doesn't seem like good medicine.

Many dog breeders and some livestock breeders are vaccinating a lot

less, as well, and those findings (of why and the reactions, etc) have

caused us to raise our daughter " vaccine-free " . The boys are not

receiving further vaccines, either.

We are still searching for information and hope to find some help here.

tried just a basic 1/3 beeswax, 1/3 Coconut oil, 1/3 Almond oil type recipe

for your lotion bars/lip balms?

Hi -

Just found my way here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is

Becky and I live in SE Connecticut with hubby of 20 yrs, 3 kids, 2

dogs, 2 cats and numerous fish....nut house basically!

I have been doing CP soap for a little over a year and just tried the

In the mold oven HP. I have spent most of the summer trying to come

up with a lotion bar that didn't feel all waxy, greasy and yucky on

my skin and not one that could double as a lip balm...not sure I have

accomplished that yet! Really enjoy the addiction of soaping and hope

to learn more. Summer vacation is over next week, so I can get

serious about soaping again minus the interruptions!!!

Anyone on the list from CT?....Would love to meet up with a soaper

I was just checking out the email here for a minute...

I am FROM town! That is pretty funny! I had seen

you post that you took a friend back to town once,

and I was going to ask about it, but it slipped my mind.

(which isn't that hard to do!!!)

Cuba is not too far away from Olean.

Hi Becky. It is nice to see you here. My parents came up

last Monday for my birhtday and brought some of those

good ole Cuba Cheese Curds!

Hi Becky and welcome to the list! I'm with you on waiting for summer

vacation be to be over with. It seems like I can only get a bit of this

and that done with kids around. I only have one of my own, but I babysit

and can have up to 6 extra kids here at anyone given time and not all

are kids I watch! How did you like the in the mold oven HP? I'd be

interested in learning more about it.

Welcome, Becky! I live in Naples, NY (at the southern tip of Canandaigua

Lake in the Finger Lakes region). I did a show (Heritage Days) in

recently that's not far from where you grew up. Beautiful country out there.

I've never been to Connecticut. I'm a big Syracuse Orangeman basketball fan

so the most I know about Connecticut is that UConn is our rival! :-) I do

CP soap. Tried M & P with my 12 year old daughter and her friends once. I

admire folks that can get artistic with it. I'm not very good at anything

detailed. Never tried HP but I'm hoping to this winter when things start to

slow down around here. My lotion bar is made with beeswax, avocado oil,

sweet almond oil, shea butter and jojoba. I'm still playing around with the

ratio to get it just right but I like the combination of oils. Very rich. I

use it on my feet and then pull socks over them at night. Really nice in the

morning. I think you'll like it here. I'm on a bunch of lists but this is

the one I always read first. Have a great weekend! (I'm going to be soaping

like crazy which means I can only enjoy this gorgeous weather from the

window. Oh well. I live in a cape chalet so at least I have a lot of

sunlight shining in! )

Hi Becky!

Welcome to our list! Please feel free to post about any subject, anytime. It

doesn't have to be soap related here! We've got a really friendly, family-type

list.

Try not to be a lurker, the more who post, the more we all learn. I'm a little

behind on my posts, but if you'd like to participate in the Secret Santa just

let me know.

Thanks for the welcome Shaye! We lived in Phelps from '97-'99...know

where that is? My husband was going to school at FLCC in Canandaigua.

Kind of a short time there for us, but we took an 1865 colonial and

breathed new life into it! That was both fun and depressing. Spent 2

yrs killing ourselves wreckovating the place only to leave it...oh

well, such is the story of our lives.

Yeppers, I have tried the basic lotion bar recipe you mentioned and

love it for a lip balm, but was not what I wanted for a lotion

bar...kinda tacky feeling on my skin and hard to apply.

town is about an hour to an hour and a half from my mom's and I

have a cousin that lives there. Just get on RT 17 and go west....

So, nice to be here. I already feel right at home. I will be in Cuba

over Columbus Day weekend and our 17 yr old daughter will be going to

Phelps to visit old friends and go to their homecoming weekend.

Hi Katy-

Thanks for the welcome. Yep, I know where Naples is. We lived in

Phelps for awhile and that was on the way to Cuba. Now that we are in

CT, everytime we go to visit, our oldest (17yo daughter) wants to go

visit her old friends in Phelps, so we either drive her up or drive

her to Naples and her friends pick her up there. Kinda the half way

point. In fact, we will be doing just that over Columbus Day weekend

when we head back to NY before the weather gets bad. Maybe we could

meet up? Naples is such a pretty little town. One of these times we

want to do the winery tour thing. I went to a yard sale a few years

back in Naples and picked up one of those Widmer wooden grape crates

(?) and I use if for a planter box on my back deck.

Happy soaping!

What exactly is the Secret Santa? Think I may have an idea, but want

to be sure before I commit. In a previous life I actually worked

the same idea?

I too want to welcome you to this wonderful group--Much friendlier than many

others, probably because we are a somewhat small group, it's much easier to keep

of Roch.

Anyone wanting to participate needs to let me know by Sept. 1. On Sept. 2, I'll

email participants a questionnaire. That needs to be back to me by Sept. 9. On

Sept. 10, I'll send you the name, address, and questionnaire answers of the

person you are to send a gift to. By Dec. 1, you need to send that person's

gift out.

Based on the answers you receive, you will purchase/make, a gift(s) with a total

value of no less than $25 before shipping costs. After everyone receives their

gifts I'll post a list to the group as to who had whose names. The person you

send a gift to will not be the person sending you a gift.

I hope that made sense! :) Let me know if you want to join the fun!

I used to live in Milford, CT, if that counts for anything. We showed

I've been making soap and toiletries for about 3 years or so now. I

live up in the Adiirondack Region, between the St. Lawrence Valley

and the Adirondacks with my husband, 14-month-old Bridget, 5 horses

(pleeeeeze make it 6!) and 5 cats. Like Kim, I'm a stay-at-home mom

Hi g-

Like you and Kim I am a stay at home mom as well. Been doing that for

17 yrs now and would not have traded a minute of it for a paying job!

Our youngest is starting 1st grade this year, so I will be home alone

for the first time in years! Kinda exciting, but kinda sad....they

all grew up soooo fast. The neighborhood I live in is mostly working

moms and dads and day-cared kids. Sad really...I was more than happy

to let my career fall to the wayside when kids started coming along.

I consider it a privilege to be able to stay home and do the mom

thing.

Hartford is about 45 mins from me. We are in Salem. Hey, good luck on

horse #6.....wow!!

Introduction

Hi,

My name is . I just wanted to say hi and tell you a little about

myself. I am 26 and have a pretty extensive health history but I'll

try to sum it up. My conditions include lung disease, severe

endometiosis, herniated disc, irritable bowel, acid reflux, addison's

disease, and depression. The past 2 years have been very difficult.

I have been in and out of the hospital at least 20 times and have had

major surgeries. The main surgery was open chest surgery to remove a

tumor from between my heart and lungs. Other surgeries included

laproscopies, open gall bladder surgery, gastric bypass, and my

appendics.

I am in the process of trying to regain my life. I just recently

came off of pain medication that I was on for years. I formed a

dependency to them and am now going through all the withdrawl

symptoms. Every day is hard right now. Some of my future plans

include starting puminary rehab and going to a pain management

clinic. If anyone has done any of this, I would love to hear your

experience.

I am currently disabled and receiving Social Security. This seems to

make things more difficult because I am home ALL THE TIME. I do plan

on starting these programs so that will get me out of the house and

you would think that would make me happy but it just seems to make me

angry. Angry that I have to deal with my health conditions. I have

tried to ignore them but that is why they haven't improved. So, now,

I am starting my jouney to acceptance but it seems very far away. I

am married to a wonderful man who is very supportive. We have been

married for going on 2 years so he has been there through out

everything. I desperately want to enjoy our marriage. It has been

very difficult.

I am sorry this is so long. Thank you for listening.

Perhaps you should consider using an alternative physician for your family's

needs. Your family will be healthier in the long run and you will have the

added bonus of not having a vaccine confrontation every time you go to the

doc.

Have you tried seeing a classical homeopath for your son?

Welcome!

>

>The whole topic of vaccinations has me intrigued, especially the

>Polio/meningitis connection. I went to the archives for this group looking

>to see if this topic was touched on, but there was over 35,000 emails and it

>was a bit overwhelming! My chiropractor spoke at one of my ap groups and

she

>was telling us how most of the cases of meningitis are really cases of polio

>that are contracted from the vaccine and that they are covering it up so

that

>people won't stop vaccinating. I have some info on it, I can share it if

>anyone is interested, but I really would like some more.

Please share what you have.

We have had about

>four kids come down with meningitis in the past year in this area.

I think it is part of hte story but mostly kids immune systems are so

affected by the vaccinesn(and no breastfeeding and on and on), making them

vulnerable to other illnesses such as meningitis. Also from a homeopathic

perspective so many symptoms are suppressed with steroids, antibiotics and

other drugs that the disturbance that caused the symptoms has to found

another outlet which is in a more life-threatening system.

It is complicated and NO matter how you look at - vaccines are very much to

blame, just maybe not as directly as it appears.

Welcome ! My son is also 8 years old and at times displays various

types of behaviors. He has the normal behaviors, the getting sick

behaviors, the otitis media behaviors, the overstimulated ones and the plain

ole Chucky like behaviors (usually a combination of the above!). He also

developed seizures last year and during the medication adjustments, was just

a handful. I suspect we will have to up his medication this week :( He had

another seizure last night..the first one while he was awake. We go to the

DS doc this week..yearly appointment.

You could be right about the apnea...have you had him checked out yet? I

would think if he got more sleep, you'd see less behaviors.

Again, welcome and I hope you enjoy this list as much as I do!
