Guest guest
Hi, if you suspect your son to have any type of gut issues and IF you have time and energy give SCDiet (dairy-free version) a try. It worked wonders for us and I'd definitely recommend it. You'll find more info on www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/autism/autism.htm and on pecanbread.com Good luck, Natasa > He's > been following the gf cf diet for about 8 months, has been on Espom > salts for a few months, and has been taking Enzymaid from Kirkman > laboratories with meals for a while. Guest guest
I am very lucky that it was caught early. I have been doing a lot of research and found that only 25% find it early enough. Ovarian Cancer is extremely aggressive. Luckily my Oncologist got me in immediately for a hysterectomy. The did a biopsy of my lymph nodes and it game back clean. I will not have to take any other treat met. I do however have to go to the Oncologist every three months for the next two years, then every six month until my five year anniversary and then once a year. Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer have the same cells so I will have to go in for a Mammogram every six months. I will be out of work until March 21 because I had two surgeries back to back. Unfortunately the week before I went to the emergency room for the tumor my employer announced that it was closing the doors. I am entitled to severance but they are now telling me I may have to wait until I am released to go back to work because the Short Term Disability will continue to pay (not enough). Guest guest
It certainly has changed my outlook. I realize what is important. I have my bad days, but I would rather have a bad day than the alternative. I have to say to everyone that reads this that your attitude has so much to do with how you deal with your illness. I am not saying that a positive attitude is a cure all but I would rather be ill with a positive outlook than ill and negative. This has all been a learning experience. I am blessed that I found this group. It is really nice to have someone to talk to that is in the same situation. As a child my mother had wonderful smelling flowers growing in the yard and I love to go into our rain forest to just smell the divine scents of our tropical flowers and fruit trees. That scent mixed in with the saltiness from the ocean is heaven to me! > Do you collect and process any of the aromatics? I do collect them when I can get good specimens. I don't process them in the regular way however. If I am thinking of a scent, or to be more precise, of a mood, that I want to create, I will actually take the plant material and place it in the essential oils. I have one that I have created using a little bit of my favorite spices and the scent is just divine. Now I want to further explore this and see what other moods and feelings I can create. I spend a great deal of time trying to identify flowers here and researching the properties of each. There is a gardenia, at least I think it is a gardenia, that grows in my yard that I want to use with some nutmeg or maybe even some cloves, but the scent is so 'fragile', I am not sure how to even begin to use it in what I am thinking about. Keep it simple until you learn all the properties. It's too easy to muddy up the delicate stuff, so a light hand is better. You could ask your local botanists about the gardenia. I have Vietnamese and also Tahitian gardenias in my garden. They are very delicate. Guest guest
Hi Donna. I’m glad you wrote. J I don’t understand about boop, but I do know about PTSD. My husband has chronic sever ptsd, along with extreme anxiety and panic disorder, dythymic disorder, interexplosive disorder, OCD with poor judgement. He was in Iraq in 2003. Hang in there and hello to you. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of passion84sailing@... Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2006 10:36 PM Subject: Introduction Hi everyone, I have been monitoring the group for some time now and it's time for me to introduce myself. I am 43 years young and have been a single mother for 15 years. My daughter is 22 and graduates from college in May with 2 degrees. She wants to go to Boston University for a Masters in Public Health. My son is 19 and has ADHD, anxiety, depressive disorder but is doing very well right now. He dropped out of high school at age 16 during a very bad depression. He got his GED when he turned 18 and indicates he is going to college next fall. 18 months ago, I was hospitalized in critical condition. I was diagnosed with BOOP which has the same symptoms as pneumonia but is really inflammation in the lungs. BOOP almost killed me. I was on prednisone for a year. I also have been diagnosed with arthritis (still undetermined type but believed to be related to BOOP), post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder, depression, and degenerative disc disease. *sigh* The mental health problems surfaced as a result of my medical problems - without the medical problems, I would be better able to deal with my mental health issues. I also have low income insurance, waiting for disability, trying not to lose my house. my medical insurance pays for me to talk to a counselor once a week so i have someone to talk to. family is very very supportive - i feel extremely fortunate. my best friend is my legal medical agent and graduates this year with a masters in social work. i can't work anymore due to my ever changing physical condition and my post traumatic stress disorder - i have panic attacks because physically i am very weak and fear that someone (especially my abusive x-husband) will hurt me. also, my brain does not process information very quickly so i have lots of fear about leaving the house, driving, being in crowds, etc. i am now taking etodolac for arthritis, zoloft for depression, clonazepam for anxiety and vicodin for pain. i have sold all of my major assets to pay my mortgage for the last year - my daughter's college vehicle, my sailboat, several household items. a friend of mine works for legal aid and is helping me try to keep my home. i spend my days taking care of 2 precious persian kittens that i just acquired to help my depression. i also just started making jewelry. i don't expect it will support me but it keeps me busy and i love all the sparkly things that i make. i have a website at http://www.simplycrystaljewelry.com i built the website myself as this is what i used to do for work. i feel fortunate to be alive. no matter what happens to me in the future, i am happy that i didn't die in that hospital room. i try to remember this every day to keep depression from taking over. i love to see and hear the birds. i love the water and i hope to be able to sail again next summer. i kayak and maybe someday will be able to hike again. hope everyone has a good evening, donna Bring words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with . Guest guest
Welcome . I'm a former obstetric and pediatric RN, and I no longer vaccinate my children either. Your son's story broke my heart. It's unbelievable that the medical profession continues to turn a blind eye to the damage vaccines do. What additional proof do they need aside from children like your precious son?? You've come to the right place for information and support. It's great to have you here. All the best, Kay Introduction Hey all My Name is .I have two wonderful little boys,Peyton and Brady. My youngest son started having problems after his first set of vaccinations. It was an hour and half drive from the doctor to our home, and he screamed the whole way home and for hours after every set of shots.I expressed my concerns to the doctor many times and they just assured me it was normal, and that I should just give him Tylenol. In my gut,I knew it wasn't normal, but wanted to trust the doctor.I remember talking to my husband and my mom on the cell phone and they could not believe the blood curdling scream coming from such a small baby. They still to this day mention it time and time again.Anyway he was diagnosed with failure to thrive by 2mths and things just went downhill from there. It got worse with each set of shots. Skipping ahead,he started having seizures around 9mths.And was eventually diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. The doctors say that it is genetic and that there is no way that his syndrome could be linked to the shots.I still wonder,a part of me feels like they played a part in all of this, but we probably will never be able to prove it. And the fact is,even if he did have AS before the shots,it doesn't take away from the fact that he had a reaction to the shots. We have since changed doctors and he to agrees that he most likely had a reaction the shots and respects our decision not to give him any more immunizations. He said if it were a reaction,it would probably be the dpt that he had a reaction to.But along the way,and lots of research into vaccines,I have learned that they are all dangerous, and contain many toxins that our little ones should never have injected into their tiny little bodies. Both my boys will never get another immunization.Anyway, that's the short version of our long journey. If you are interested in learning more,we have a blog for Brady at http://sweetsweetangels.blogspot.com/ Thank you all for letting me be a part of your group.Cant wait to get to know you all. stephanie fore

Guest guest
Hi again - that wasn't a long intro This is a great place for support while you're working on getting healthy! My g/f has a heart murmer and she's had 7 kids - 6 pregnancies. The only time it seems to be an issue is for dentist appt - she has to take antibiotics before any procedure. She's not overweight though. I had a stress test many years ago when I had pnomonia (dumb time to make you take one grrrrr). Will you be working out (other than chasing those preschoolers and your daughter)? baby steps. Are you already a water drinker - it helps so much. Suzy <shp@...> wrote: Hi All, Well I found some spare time so I thougth I could tell you all a little about me. I am 37, married and I have a 7 year old daughter. I teach preschool part time. I have struggled with weight all my life but things have been bad the last few. The weight has really gotten on and my health is suffering for it. I have hypertension and high cholesterol and am a heart attack waiting to appen. I have hit the bottom just thinking about not being here for my family. I recently went to see a new doc who told me that I have a heart murmur and need to have a stress test done. Anyone ever had that? I am really scared and extremely nervous. So here I am...trying to get healthy. I have been on this road before many times, lost some weight and then went back to the old harmful lifestyle. There has been Sugar Busters, South Bech, Weight Watchers just to name a few. I am trying a low GI plan right now b/c yes I do have sugar issues too. I haven't had my levels tested for a while. A year ago they were back to normal but who knows now. For right now it is ODAAT for me because that is all I can handle. I am ready for a fresh start. Sorry this was long. Glad to meet you all. Guest guest
>Well I found some spare time so Welcome, Suzy! > I have struggled with weight all my life Heck, I was born at 10 pounds and put on my first restricted calorie diet at the tender age of 3 days when the doc said I was gaining too fast! Now I'm 52, off and on so many diets my whole life that I can't count them all but only lost any substarntial weight twice - once as a kid, when it took 2 years on 1000 calories to lose 30 pounds (and 3 weeks on 1200 cal to gain those 30 plus another 20 right back), and again in 2000 when I lost 45 pounds on a very low cal high complex carb very low fat vegetarian food plan. I've regained all but 10 of those pounds back in the past few years, even while staying mostly on the same food plan, but blame peri-menopausal hormones plus lack of adequate exercise (lots of arthritis and a few injuries in recent years). Still, I keep on plugging along, watching my portions, trying to get enough exercise in. >I have hypertension and high cholesterol and am a heart attack waiting to appen. If you think you would be able to stick to a vegetarian food plan, why not look into the works of Dr. McDougall (strict vegan) or Dr. Neal Ornish (mostly veg, allows low fat cheese and dairy and some low fat meats). Besides the food plan, Dr. Ornish's heart health plan also incorporates stress relief, meditation, and yoga. He's even a consultant to some fast food restaurants and is the guy responsible for the healthier salads in Mc's. >I recently went to see a new doc who told me that I have a heart murmur I;ve had one since I was 5 years old, and I'm now 52. > and need to have a stress test done. Anyone ever had that? Not me, but as a nurses assisted in the taking of many of them. You'll be wired up to an ekg machine and asked to either walk a treadmill or ride an exercycle and the doctor will monitor the results. It's up to the doc whether or not you get injected with some medication during the test, too. Just relax and wear comfortable clothing, and bring a change of clothes and some deodorant for the trip home. > I am really scared and extremely nervous. Relax! Stress is worse for your heart than an unhealthy diet! > For right now it is ODAAT for me because that is all I can handle. I am ready for a fresh start. So, until you get the results of the stress test and your doc says it's okay to do aerobic exercise, follow the suggestions I wrote to Mohira about keeping a food journal and getting enough to drink. In your case, I would also watch my salt intake and read labels carefully for anything that contains sodium, especially things like canned soup or packaged rice or potato mixes. Keep your daily sodium intake to 3000 mg or below. Hit your library for Dr. Ornish's books and start reading. While there, grab a book on meditation and find yourself a quiet spot and practice some of them for a half hour once or twice a day. Grab a few low salt, low sugar cookbooks, too, as the recipes in Ornish's books are more of a gourmet quality than everyday family meals. Roam the internet and find new heart-healthy recipes. The Sugar Buster/South Beach recipes are usually pretty good - low sugar and high in fiber. You can find a bunch of Sugar Buster links on our Links page, and a whole page full of recipes that a woman named Ricki collected on this web page: http://www.agoron.com/~susang/sugarbuster.htm >Sorry this was long.
