Hi, I'm new here. Hope someone can help me!

I have already seen the endocrinologist who is near me and he just said that as

my levels were " normal " there was nothing wrong! Yet, I have put on 3 stone, my

face looks like a puffball, my fingers, arms, legs, ankles are swollen beyond

recognition and I have many other symptoms of hypothyroidism. On the

hypothyroidism checklist I ticked 65 symptoms. Three of my sister's daughters

have thyroid disease - 2 hypo and one hyper.

I KNOW something is not right. They try to say it's because I have M.E. and

don't get any exercise, but I've had M.E. for 23 years and never put on 3 stone

before or had a face like a moon etc!!

It's not diet related, I have seen a dietician and my calorie intake is slightly

less than it should be even taking into account my inactivity - I have M.E.

I don't really understand the intricacies of the body's thyroid system, but I'm

wondering if, because my tsh is " normal " , could it be that it's not being used

properly by my body or something? Is this where T3 comes in?

If I knew what the problem could be, I would just go ahead and buy some

privately, even online, and try it for a while to see if it helped, but I don't

know what to buy, where to buy or how much to take!! help!

ten years ago my results were -

TSH 2.42

Free T4 17.92

I had a total thyroid screen done in 2010 -

TSH 2.03

Free T4 13.9

Free T3 4.69 Free T4: Free T3 ratio 2.9 (marked as low)

5 months ago GP did test -

TSH 1.8

Free T4 10.8 (no T3)

so it looks like levels are dropping.

If you have any advice or could point me towards something which would help me

understand better I'd be very grateful. I am housebound because of M.E. and

vertigo (dizziness, loss of balance) so any online sources, or Dr's who do

phone consultations etc would be very much appreciated.

thanks!
